The refs ignored the targeting call on Woodel's fumble.  The SDSU player led with the crown of his helmet directly to Woodel's shoulder/ elbow.  The refs even saw it on the instant replay. The SDSU guy should have been ejected; the penalty should have been assessed.  Players suffer permanent injury because refs have a different standard in the NCAA playoffs.  Richmond had a star player's future wrecked on a similar play by NDSU several years back. Rules are there to be enforced for player safety. It's disgusting.

yep I saw that too but kept quiet!  They usually do not call it on an inside play I think.

He'll get stronger, not sure he'll get faster or more athletic. Right now he's a power back without the power.

He has injuries in both shoulders.  He has been very quick inside and good for 4 - 5 yds in many games.  We'll be back next year.  Great season over-all.  As some have said SDS is a top 30 team among ALL College FB. They showed it tonight

There were three play calls that really had me scratching my head in the Idaho game, not including the decision to kick to their quality returner.  Two of those plays were on special teams:

    1) In the 1st quarter asking your kicker to attempt a FG well out of his range because you were in "no-man's land."

    2) 2nd and goal...3rd quarter? Pulling Reese and lining WR Roy Alexander up as the QB.

    3) The formation for the 2 point conversion.  That kind of formation gets you featured in a YouTube video...of the "non-highlight" variety.

Actually he had three 50+ kicks in HS when he was almost 20 lbs lighter, 55 yds, 54 yds and 52 yds - saw them all on tape.  Hasn't been asked to kick anythng beyond 46 yds this year though.

Roy dropped the ball or it was a go

BUT there is no question whatever about doing a better job against kickoff returns and punt returns.  Just downright poor all year!!!!!  The best bet is the short kick OR a 30 yrd low bouncer; stop them near the 25.

Hof, thanks for your work on tracking recruits. Do you get the sense that this playoff run is paying off on the trail with the caliber of recruit we are going after or getting commitments or to early to tell? I'm hopeful we can parlay this into some studs and keep building on this success.

Sorry I have been out of town helping my daughter with our first grandchild while my son-in-law is in Europe for work for 17 days.  Yes there is no question. Talking to coaches gives me that impression [and there are a couple of impressive early committments].  That's what a run like this does.  This is ONLY my guess, but I think we'll probably have less than 10 HS kids early signing again and at least several tranfers coiming in.

By the way I am not seeing as many offers right now - minds are elsewhere as we know, BUT I know a bunch have been made.   I have to find them as I have no inside info.

Still not one poster on their board has given us props...board full of excuses and cope. Lol...amazing after the crap that was talked all week.

And they are saying our Athletics Dept posting the video of their coach boasting his bags are already packed and he's tired of hearing about our defense is classless!

I wish there was a tunnel from the PE building to the podium. My (then) long hair froze more than once on the walk back. First day of second semester Freshman year it was -28 in Albany. The Dakotas don’t have a monopoly on crappy weather. Snow here tomorrow as a matter of fact

Woodell appeared to be really struggling. He’s been wearing a shoulder restraint/brace or whatever you call it for several weeks and after a few tackles he really looked rough. They do need to use other RBs. Despite the extra grey hairs for Gattuso, I did like that he scored on that nice run. You’ve been trying to break a long one all game and finally do….gotta be hard to slide down to run out the clock. Hicks looked like he hurt his arm diving for a ball near the goal line.

I join all in saying that this season is an epic run, especially after the last two and the prediction of #11. House money…house money.

That can be attributed to their Defense I think.  Our young guys started opening things up a little in the 4th after we had several big passes.
