  1. Siena Tony only because you deleted this twice on the website you control.....

Take this rating with a grain of salt........

    110.    SIENA (9 Points)..........4 Recruits..........2.3 Talent Rating Average Per Recruit..........Metro Atlantic Conference

    from today's HOOPSCOOP

    Now I'll add this

    126.    ALBANY (8 Points)..........3 Recruits..........2.7 Talent Rating Average Per Recruit..........America East Conference
    from today's HOOPSCOOP

It appears to me that Siena and UA are recruiting similar level players, now I said "take these ratings with a grain of salt" because HOOPSCOOP doesn't list Reid Anderson for UA which will make us atleast equal in points and atleast equal in talent rating avg. so I wonder if your philosophy that UA can't recruit the same level of players that Siena can will change.

I use HOOPSCOOP only because that's the figures you use when it benefits you.

I personally don't give much credence to any of the scouting services as I find them politically friendly to certain groups. It's all about who your connected to. For instance if Ubiles signed Big East or Gifford signed at a higher level automattically their ratings would jump.

  2. It should be interesting to see how Siena Tony spins this bit of info.

Tony is forever disparaging AE recruits as not being MAAC level players but when two UVM players decide to leave, two MAAC teams on the rise scoffed them up.

    Duell to Siena - 7.4ppg/3.9rpg - .405FG%/.313 3PFG%

    Schneider to Marist - 6.4ppg/4.7rpg - .317FG%/.317 3PFG%

  3. saints73 - that may be very true but remember this is a business first for the Pepsi, for Siena and for UA.

Keep the game at the Pepsi but one year let Siena have it as a true home game and the following year have UA as the true home team.

This way each team profits from the game.

Right now in my opinion it's a onesided deal and up to this point (to be honest deservingly so) but now that the gap has closed and UA wants to improve its status it must consider how every game benefits their program as does Siena.

  4. In my opinion playing at the Pepsi is not a big deal. The time has come for this series to be home and home in alternating years.

It's just another road game when we need home games - 3/4,000 home fans at the RACC is more profitable to us then 9 or 10,000 fans at the Pepsi where Siena benefits.

As for this tourney concept its ridiculous if we're forced to play Siena at the Pepsi every year. They have the upper hand as far as dictating when and at what time.

We need to have as many home games as possible when students are on campus, we don't need to be helping Siena fill its budgetary needs. Do the teams in the MAAC play all their games at the Pepsi because it has more room then their on campus facility. They all play home and home.

It's one thing to have a Major pay you to play at their facility but it's a little silly for a team who over the last two seasons has a lower RPI dictating what's going to happen and benefitting from the game and have us walk away with basically nothing.

Our goal should be to continue to increase attendance at the RACC not at the Pepsi.

  5. Hey, McElroy should negotiate a Home game at the PEPSI for UA or UA should not consider renewing when the contract when it is up and UA definitely should not partake of any proposed Tourney hosted at the PEPSI.

It's time for a home and home and if the the PEPSI is not available for UA then the game should be played at the RACC if the Siena faithful can't get seats at the RACC so be it.

The Siena game is great but we don't need to keep being subservient and watch only Siena profit from the game. It's just another example of UA being treated as a second class citizen.

Regardless of what Siena fans think we are their best drawing card and average of 9,780 over the last 3 years. I'm sure the PEPSI doesn't want to see that game walk away.

It's general knowledge that at UA's level good young coaches will want to move up and make it to the "TOP".

Good AD's want to do the same and College President's are no different.

I don't imagine Coach Brown is going anywhere soon but if his success continues he will be a "Hot Commodity" and the AD and the President will realize that if an offer comes to double the Coach's salary and move to a higher level the Coach will go and should go . They would also realize that with Coach Brown the AD and the Administration had made a great hire - when they took away the Interim Title a few years ago.

All bosses want to hire people who work hard and want to be the best they can be.

It has nothing to do with a Coach wanting to be at UA. Brown has said numerous times that he wants to be here and I think he was sincere. Does that mean he'll stay here no matter what and pass up great opportunities that come his way for himself and his family, HELL NO!!!!

I didn't progress that far, a win over LIU would of given us a winning record at 15-13

The AP report said that Lehigh forfeited 13 games they won using an ineligible player, we were one of those wins as the player involved went for something like 13 & 7. therefore or record now for that season is legitimately 14-14 not 13-15.

    Save your breath.

It's like peeing on a stone it will take centuries for $aints73 to erode away.

He loves to hear himself - so just let him post to himself.

Siena's 00/01 - 06/07 record shows 0 Regular Season CHAMPIONSHIPS. They have not been competitive in their own conference where they are suppose to be the Marquee team an established long time program. In fact the best they have finished during this period is 3rd and 3 of the last 6 seasons they have been in the bottom half.

The Danes growth and success in their conference is well documented.

  9. saints73

You're waisting your time over here trying to incite.

$iena the "Gold Standard" or Crown Jewel" of the MAAC has not won a Conference Regular Season Title in a season that has started in this CENTURY

Go back to your own board and revel about the way things use to be.

It seems to me that Albany has been on national TV more recently and has won Championships (Regular Season and AE Tourney) more recently and Oh Yes we've been to the Big Dance more recently.

Minor achievements by $iena standards, I'm sure, but enough to get people like you worried. You guys hang on every word out there about the.....

    "GREAT DANES".

  10. YEAH - you can't compare eras and you can't compare levels

All the guys mentioned were great players in their own right.

How would they have been at the DI level or with the shot clock or the three point line we'll never know.

Lets just say, well I think it's safe to say Jamar is the greatest DI Level player we have had.

  11. UAalum72

I must repectfully disagree. Each of the three you mentioned brought a great deal to the table, in my opinion

    1. Though many on this board didn't see ZO as a real contributor the coaches in the league selected him 3rd Team All AE - they're the ones that had to plan a strategy against us. Evidently ZO's presence was appreciated by the opposing coaches more than some UA fans.

    2. "Sweet LU" even when he was struggling was a physical presence who became pretty much a defensive stopper. In our drive to glory, our last four wins came by double digit margins - LU evolved back to the guy we expected early in the season, avg. 15ppg. He was instrumental in UA getting the AE Regular Season Title outright at UMBC and winning the AE Tourney to clinch both a NIT and NCAA invite.

    3. Levi is just a "Warrior" he contributed in so many different ways, tip ins, three point shots, hustle and physicality to to name a few. I'll bet the coaching staff is out trying to get a physical forward right now with the remaining scholarship.

Remember 3 of the 4 players we have coming in are freshman. Who knows how they will do at this level?

There's alot of work to be done - this season's new guys Siggers, Connelly and Covington must show considerable improvement and so must Lillis and Brent, just for us to think about repeating the carpet ride next season.

    Just my opinion.

  12. Siena Tony,

I'm glad you deem it necessary to come over here and post, but I would truly appreciate it if you would leave your condescending attitude on your own board.

Next years game is a long way off, who knows if we can replace our losses and who knows if Haddix will be healthy or your recruits are as good as expected.

The UA team you beat at HOME last year and the team that ended the year were significantly different teams.

Enjoy the off season and pray that Haddix stays healthy for a full season, Haddix and Siena deserves that much.

  13. bosiydid,

With all due respect, I really like your posts and your energy.

The Danes had their first true DI team last year. Look at the past UA rosters, heck 3 years ago we had the famous "four on the floor" finish at Hartford, Jon Iati played 40 minutes + a game, (yes 40 + minutes per game) and walk - ons were playing major minutes. Do you think that epitomizes being a true DI team?

In the last two seasons we have had a full roster of DI type talent - all I stated was lets just look at the present two years. No one can take away the successes of the past that Siena has had but they have to stop living in the past and realize there is another DI team in town..

Just look at all the great, well deserved praise and compliments placed on Coach McCaffrey - he took a program that was decimated and improved it by 9 wins in one year.

Well each of the past two years the Danes have improved by 8 wins, shouldn't we be excited about that?

I try to live my life in the present.

  14. bosiydid - There will always be fans who want to compare greatest accomplishments and might lose perspective. Siena has "had" good/ outstanding seasons and successes in the past but we must live in the present.......

Lets look at the immediate present the last two full seasons.

Siena 2004/05 RPI 297 6-24 overall 4-14 in MAAC play

    2005/06 RPI 125 15-13 overall 10-8 in MAAC play

Last two years avg. RPI 211, 21-37 overall, 14-22 in MAAC play

Remember according to the RPI the MAAC was a tougher league this year, last year the AE was rated higher then the MAAC. Also remember Siena is the self proclaimed "Crown Jewel of the MAAC" or the "Gold Standard"

UA 2004/05 RPI 195 13-15 overall 9-9 in AE play

    2005/06 RPI 119 21-11 overall 13-3 in AE play

Last two years avg. RPI 157, 34-26 overall, 22-12 in AE play

These are the present facts, whatever plays out in the future so be it, but in the last two seasons the Great Danes have been the most productive of the two teams end of story.

Over the last two seasons which Hoop program has been the soundest.

  15. The Siena faithful are still writing "Letters to the Editor" because a UA Fan wrote about UA's strong showing in the NCAAs this year.

If they were as secure about their dominance of DI basketball in the region as they were three or four years ago - things like that wouldn't bother them.

All of a sudden everything a Dane's fan says must be rebutted or they feel they will lose a larger share of their strength or popularity in the region.

It sure is fun watching them squirm.

By the way how close did Siena come to playing 3 teams in the final eight or better yet when did Siena ever play both teams in the final game during the same season.

Because THEY ARE SIENA they probably have - but I'd sure like to know.

It's so much fun watching them over react to every comment. The Crown Jewel of the MAAC is edgy.
