The Danes leading 1-0 at the half weathered a poor second half performance when they were dominated by Wagner and scored in overtime to get a 2-1 victory.

After winning only one game last season the Lady Danes are now 2-1.

Sara Rickard scored in the first half on a direct kick from about 22 yrads out which skimmed the bottom of the crossbar.

Nicole Hercules scored on a nice posession when Uju Ogbuawa took a pass about 30 yards out in the center of the field and played it to Sara Rickard going down the left wing who turned the corner drawing the keeper to the near post and then played it across to an on rushing Nicole Hercules who put it in the open net from about 10 yards out. Game Over!!!

Congrats to Women's Soccer for a great start. There is, however, this cautionary note which appeared on today's UAlbany On-Line Calendar

"Open Try-Outs for Soccer Goalkeeper

The UAlbany Varsity Women's Soccer team is holding open try-outs for an

experienced goalkeeper, either high school level or club. NCAA rules

only allow full time student at UAlbany to participate on varsity teams,

so you must be registered for at least 12 credits to play. To set up a

try-out date and time or if you have any questions, please contact

our assistant coach, Angie Napoli at 518-591-8653."

Considering the girl playing goal now was a defender last year that they converted, and the backup is a freshman ... if they could find someone reliable that would be great. You can't even scrimmage with two really, if one goes down.

He's going to be hurting for numbers for a couple of years while his recruits are coming in and the old guard is going out.
