POMEROY RATINGS

Recommended Posts

The Pomeroy Ratings is not a sign of respect it is a sign of an improved program.

The Pomeroy is just another mathematical rating system which takes into consideration how well you have performed and home court.

What information goes into the ratings?

The only information I use from each game is the margin of victory/defeat and the site of the game. The result of the game (won/lost/tied) is ignored, other than it being incidental to the margin of victory/defeat. Because the system relies on only past data, it can't anticipate personnel changes that might affect the relative strength of two teams competing in a future game........One can get a prediction by simply taking the difference in the ratings of two teams and make appropriate adjustments for home site advantage.- Pomeroy site

You earn respect by playing well and competitively during the season - therefore no one really gives you respect - you earn it. UA has earned the respect of most prominent people in the AE.

We sure would earn some more respect if we took down first place UVM.

It's also a sign of improvement when we are discussing whether we have a good chance to win the league in men's basketball in 2005-06.

Statefan, yes, it's the "gift that keeps on giving," as you stated back in November. I almost feel some pity with the prospect that the area's other DI team has a chance of having a similar record to ours last season. The major difference, of course, was that we knew last year that the next season would be much better.

olddog - snap out of it!!!!!! With Sienas pompous arrogance they don't deserve us having any feelings for them.

remember......

"Jewel of the MAAC"

They were building a Gonzaga of the East type program.

The guards they recruited were all supers well above the MAAC level.

They own the Pepsi Arena - even though lately it 1/6 full. Many of their fans come camouflaged as empty seats

Think of this and then reconsider your thoughts.
