RPI shows a "Good Trend"

Recommended Posts

While we catch our breath - it's nice to play with some numbers.

2004 - RPI 309 (Thanks too Boston U 84 & UVM 115)

2005 - RPI 195 ( Thanks to UVM 26, Northeastern 55 & Boston U 85)

2006 - RPI 128 ( No one in the AE to help inflate the RPI)

This year there were 334 DI teams rated in 2004 there were 326 teams.

Also last year we had a jump of 8 games in the win column and we followed it up with a 7 game increase this year and we're still playing.

In continuing the number trend that puts us in the following percentiles:

2004 - 5th percentile (better than 5.21% of the ranked teams)

2005 - 40th percentile (better than 40.18% of the ranked teams)

2006 - 62nd percentile (better than 61.68% of the teams)

The nearly 20% increase year-over-year means that we have essentially passed roughly 74 teams in the past year in terms of ranking.

Also, based on some rough math calculating this years percentile gain as a percentage of prior years percentil gain (to account for the leveling off effect as it becomes harder to move up in rank) we could expect to see rougly an additional 13 percent incerase placing us in the 75th percentile or in other words as part of the top 25% of teams ranked in the RPI.

Disclsoure: I am an auditor so I have a tendancy to make the numbers work for me. But these numbers seem reasonable based on our recent accent to the top of the AE.
