In a rainy and cold saturday the UA Varsity and Novic squad opened there seasons with a strong showing at the University at Binghamton Invite. UA faced strong competition from SUNY rivals Binghamton, Geneseo and Buffalo. Also Clarkson, Scranton and Wilkes were represented, UA Varsity women's 4 took first place, the Varsity men's Lightwight 4 took third, the Heavywights 4 took fifth. On the Novic side the Women took third in the women's eight, and four's events. On the men's side another third place was recorded for the men's eight, and fifth in the fours. Aside from the weather which made for a misserable day off the water, on the water it was a great day to be a great dane rower. Next week's regatta will take place at Orchard Park in New Rochelle, then the following weekend of May 6th and 7th the Great Danes will be out at Binghamton (Whitney Point) for the NYS Championships, and the following week we will conclude the season at Dad Vails in Philliy, where we will face some of the nations best rowers.
