I just got confirmation that I will be getting a vote in the 2008 Any Given Saturday FCS poll. I was wondering if anyone else on this board has gotten a vote in the past or will be voting this year and if so what your methodology will be?

There is a big discussion on the AGS board about this, but I was wondering what this board's opinion was on it as well.

The two major theories on poll voting (at least over on the AGS board):

1. Do you vote every week based solely on what the teams have done to date; or

2. Do you vote every week based on what the teams have done to date as well as how good you think the team will be the rest of the season?

I qualified for a while, but didn't vote enough - I couldn't be bothered to study conferences across the south that we never see or play against. But I think voting on expectations should only go for the first month; eventually you are what your record says you are, and voting by how well you'll do in the future just maintains biases in the face of evidence (cue an 'old guard' reference).

I tend to agree with you. I am going to give it a shot this year. We'll see what happens. I'm hoping that I have the time to do it. I figure that we and the NEC are now becoming more of a national influence in FCS that we should have some representation on the AGS poll.
