Buona has made the final roster for the 26th African Nations Cup. The Cup starts today and its winner moves on to the Confederations Cup. Condoul will serve as first backup to Lille's Tony Sylva. Buona is the first MLS player to EVER participate in this prestigious event. As you will see in articles and blog comments, people wonder when Colorado will sign him. The rumor is that an English team is all set to sign him and may loan him out to a top-side in France next season. That team:

NEWCASTLE UNITED!!!! "Speaking of the ACN, an old m8 of mine from Uni will be playing in it. I'm not sure if he'll start but he should because he's such a good player. He just got called up to the Senegal national team not so long ago (Too good not to). He's such a good Goalie. His name is Bouna Condoul, watch out for him...he'll make the move the the Premier League in the near future..."

From the World Cup Blog:

"The Lions of Teranga are argably the best team never to have won the tournament, but can boast an array of French and English based talent, the only MLS player in the whole competition and a manager whose name is very difficult to type. So come on in and meet Senegal."

"Senegal have never won the African Cup of Nations, but made the semi-finals in 2006 and finished runners up in 2002. They qualified just once for the World Cup in 2002, but shocked the world by beating World Cup and European Championship holders France in the opening game and going all the way to quarter-finals."

"FIFA World Ranking (December 2007): 38 (fifth best in tournament)

Expectations: Senegal won’t go into this expecting to win it, like maybe Nigeria or Côte d’Ivoire will. But they’re definitely a good outside bet, especially with their recent history (2000 - Quarterfinals, 2002 - Second place, 2004 - Quarterfinals, 2006 - Fourth place.)"
