Junior midfielder leads Albany to the program’s first-ever victory over a top-20 opponent

 

Albany’s junior midfielder, Kayla Best, is the WomensLax.com Player of the Week after notching 7 points on 3 goals and 4 assists to lead the Great Danes to a 16-15 overtime victory over the 13th-ranked New Hampshire Wildcats. All seven of Best’s points came in the first 22 minutes of the game, as the Great Danes exploded out of the gates to a 10-0 first half lead. The Wildcats fought back and forced overtime, but Albany prevailed, marking the first-ever victory over a top-20 opponent and the first over the Wildcats in nine previous meetings. The game marked the America East season opener for both teams. Best leads Albany in scoring with 29 points on the season.
