Barnes Hired

Recommended Posts

There were rumors about this before. This is a terrific move along with the Voelker hiring:

BRIAN BARNES NAMED DIRECTOR OF MEN’S BASKETBALL OPERATIONS

Albany, N.Y. – University at Albany head basketball coach Will Brown announced that Brian Barnes has been hired as director of basketball operations. Barnes, a native of Troy, N.Y. who attended Catholic Central High School, will handle administrative duties, videotape exchange, travel and coordinate summer basketball camps. He was a tri-captain on last year’s squad, after making the team as a walk-on in 1999. Barnes, who appeared in 40 games as a collegian, was later awarded a basketball scholarship.

Dane Pound this is old news - Barnes has been working very hard for the Hoop Program.

I think this is a sign that Brown is looking to build a program based on loyalty. Barnes was a good soldier when Brown took over and evidently Brown is showing the appreciation he has for the work effort of Brian.

Remember Brown and the coaching staff also brought Lucius Jordan back to the Albany area and that should lead to some more local interest in 04/05.

It's apparent to me that some good things are being done by our present basketball staff.
