Track Team in action

Recommended Posts

The UAlbany Men's Distance Medley team of Chris Burke, Jonathan Santana, Peter Rowell and Paul Lagno have travelled to Notre Dame University to run against the best teams in the country with hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Due to snow in the Northeast, the team met challenges in travel but after commuting to Hartford in the dead of night have finally arrived in South Bend earlier today. The team is the first in our over 4 decades of track & field that will have the opportunity to represent the Univeristy at Albany at the prestigious University of Notre Dame. They have already toured the campus and seen the famous football stadium and warmed-up today in their unbelievable indoor facility which is one of the largest ovals in the country at 320 meters. The head coach, Mr. Joe Piane, greeted us with open arms and discussed at length the tremendous opportunity this is going to be and the electric atmosphere for this race. He recommended a family style italian restaurant where our students commented that it was the best they ever had. We were treated like kings - antipasto salad, calamari, pasta, bruscetta bread, pizza, chicken parmesian, meatballs, etc. What an incredible meal and what we couldn't believe is that this meal for six was only $77.00 and the service was supurb (Bruno's)

I feel that the team is confident and ready to give a great effort and NCAA is certainly a possiblility. We started this year with the new mantra of "Make It Happen" and tomorrow is the DAY!!!!!!! We can certainly be one of the 11 teams in the country to qualify for the Distance Medley at Boise, Idaho next week. Tomorrow we run in the 2nd section of the DMR against the Nations best which includes Notre Dame, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Texas, Villanova, Arkansas, Washington and Georgetown. We are READY for the challenge!!!!!! Watch live for free at the link below. The first section races at 8:00pm with our race going off a little after 8:10pm. GO DANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
