Fraternity suspensions

Interesting story.

The State University of New York at Albany suspended fourteen fraternities and sororities in mid-November, and many students and alumni are upset about what they say is unfair treatment by the University. In a letter dated November 16, Office of Student Involvement Coordinator Mike Jaromin issued the suspension and ordered the groups to ”cease and desist from all official sorority and fraternity functions,” including “new member education activities.” The suspensions were a response to the arrest of several University at Albany students on November 9 for hazing pledges of an underground fraternity not recognized by the school. All of the 14 suspended organizations were “above ground,” or are recognized as legitimate Greek organizations.

Why would the school suspend legit fraternities and sororities when the hazing incident occurred by an unrecognized frat? This doesn't seem like a solution to me.

This all goes back to the Kegs and Eggs Riot. Again, I can legit say and have confirmation from multiple people that it was mostly non-UA students involved in those events. The university is trying to crack down and this is their silly answer.
