It's a slow day and I want to discuss Division 4... more importantly what does this mean for UAlbany?

I don't care about Division 4 and the big boys per se. My hope is that the NCAA doesn't just focus on Division 4 but holistically reviews Division 1 football. I would hope in setting new standards the CAA (and Albany) get into what is now Non-BCS FBS. Allow each school or conference to choose the level that applies to them based on whatever criteria will be used (revenue, attendance, scholarships).

1) BCS

2) FBS

3) Full Scholly FCS

4) None... no more non-scholarship or partial scholarship

Hopefully Albany and the CAA are given a choice, which is what I believe happended in '73 and we choose "2 FBS". It may be tough in the beginning but choosing to stay FCS given an option I think we go the next level. We can complete with a Eastern Michigan, Army and the non-BCS FBS.

If the BCS schools were to split from FBS then I don't see a huge difference between non-BCS FBS schools and FCS. They might as well be all in one division.
