Coach Ford- TU Sportsman of the Year; and insight on Keeler

Recommended Posts

Great article. I really think Gattuso will utilize Coach Ford, and I believe this statement said it all about Keeler (though Ford left him unnamed):

"Q: What do you think about the new coach?

A: I didn't select the new coach, I didn't want to do that. I did talk to each of the candidates, and I think Greg is a good fit for this institution. There was one guy they were involved with who I thought was the antithesis of what I am, and I didn't think it would be a smooth transition that way. Greg said he would not run any of these kids out of the program. A lot of coaches will do that because they want to get the scholarship back and put it on a better kid. We have made mistakes recruiting like every staff in the country has but Greg said he would honor the commitments and see that the kid graduates. I thought he saw things the way I did."
