The University at Albany nipped visiting UMBC 15-14 on Friday afternoon in an America East Conference women’s college lacrosse clash.

Sarah Falk’s goal with just two minutes, 45 seconds left put UAlbany in front 14-13 and Grace McCauley added another 59 seconds later to give the Great Danes a two-goal advantage.

Dymin Gerow’s goal pulled UMBC closer with only 49 seconds remaining but it wasn’t enough as UAlbany held on for the win.

The Great Danes improved to 7-5 and sit with a perfect 3-0 league record thanks to the victory.

Falk finished with five goals and an assist and Shonly Wallace had four goals to lead the UAlbany offense.

Gerow scored three goals and added two assists and Lauren Cremen chipped in with three goals for the Retrievers, who dipped to 6-5 and 0-3 in the America East Conference following the loss.

The Great Danes are right back at it on Saturday at John Fallon Field against 2nd-ranked Northwestern. Opening face-off is set for 5 p.m.
