I think we might be coming of as dissing this pick but I think mostly because we really don’t understand where he fits in.  I also have full confidence in our coach as he has proven time after time that he knows what he’s doing. My posts in this thread are not intended to disrespect Gilliam.

I second this motion, simply trying to get some insight into the plan, I would trust Coach Brown with my unborn children!!!

The lastest rosters I've had of Chauncey still had him listed as '07. That was for the Sonny Hill Tournament in August and the Philly Top 100 in September. I'm not sure if he's reclassified. That Maryland one is probably the same player. Sometimes rosters will list hometowns rather than the school's town. I'd actually probably guess him to be about 6-3. Heights are often listed differently as well.

UAlbany Gets 2008 Verbal Commitment

Will Brown is looking ahead.  The UAlbany head coach received a verbal commitment for 2008 this week from 16 year old Chauncey Gilliam.  Gilliam is a 6-5, 205 pound shooting guard from New Jersey.  He is a senior this year at LEAP Academy in New Jersey, the same school Danes walk on Lance James came from.

Gilliam does not turn 17 until May so there's a good chance he'll go to a prep school next year before enrolling at UAlbany in 2008.

Gilliam scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds a game last season as his stock continues to rise.  He has a strong three point shot and a vertical leap that has garnered Atlantic-10 kind of attention.

The Danes are planning on having five available scholarships for the 2008 recruiting class.
