Lucas Kurtz---NFL Possibilites?

Recommended Posts

UAlumn mentioned the Hofstra show....so I listened on the internet. Lee McElory was a guest.

It was really good, a lot of fun. I think you will see a UA-Hofstra rivalry develop; Gardi and Ford are very close friends (rules committee together).

Gardi basically said that UA is very strong defensively, he thinks we will zone blitz because that would confuse his young line. Both he and Stephen Jackson (receiver in the 55-28 loss) said we cannot be overlooked....we are well coached and come out hard. They expect us to use our hogs up front (avg. 6'2 295) to run the ball through the tackles on the suspect (117 out of 120) run D of Hofstra.

They said the one bad thing was our QB situation, not because Nicky is bad, just inexperience under the lights. Lee McElroy, however, stated if Nicky gets in the open field Hofstra could forget chasing him.

The announcers repeatedly said this should be a W for Hofstra, easy W. They did, however, feel UA could give a fight if we come out strong.....and they LOVE THE DIRECTION of Albany's program, repeatedly comparing them to Hofstra in 1992-95 when they had limited to no-scholarships.

Lee was very upbeat talking about his brother (who was coached by Gardi during the 1982-1984 Jet season). There is a very strong relationship between the schools so I wouldnt be suprised for more OOC (soccer, softball, baseball, lax, hoop come to mind) games.

Overall, Ford, UA, McElroy, and our program came off looking very good.

Gardi in the end, talking about what he expected stated that Jermaine Lee (HS teammate of a few Hofstra guys) is very quick to the QB. He stated that our DL is huge....something they are going to challenge with runs early because of the injury recovery period Seck is still undergoing at QB. They also stated that Coleman could prove to be a problem for their lineman. Finally, they said our best prospect is Lucas Kurtz, "who the NFL scouts really like."

They expect an exciting game, repeatedly stating that the 55-28 game was one of the best ever....and basically we ran into a buzzsaw run-n-shoot offense that was pumping on all cylinders.

There you go folks....the summary!
