The offense appears to be a pass first and run second offense or a more finesse type of offense if you will. Not sure if that is by design or they are light on RB's this year. They are still a bit smaller than most CAA teams upfront so that may have something to do with it as well. Albany has always been "bigger" in the NEC and had a 3 yards and a cloud of dust type offense. I imagine Coach G is just playing to his talent. An offense like that could struggle in the rain and wind that comes every fall. It always effects the passing game.

They are in the weight room, film room and meeting rooms everyday with the Coaches. If they're not, they won't compete. This is true for every position. This is CAA football, everybody is good at this level. Get bigger, stronger, faster or be gone!

This schedule is death!! Why do we not play ELON or Towson this year?? SBU's schedule is a cake walk next to this. They played a couple of tough teams last season and we played 4 playoff teams NOVA, UNH, RICHMOND and JMU. Ball State is a dumb game. Former UA coach Pete Lembo (or is he at Bowling Green?) I believe is coaching them which is why we have this game. Either way this is a stupid game. You want an OOC FBS opponent with a name play Syracuse or Army. This will be a loss and no one will care.

Not Duquesne. They would not bring anything to the table for a home game. One of the IVY's Colgate, anyone but an NEC team. No offense to the NEC but if you want attendance Duquesne, Wagner, ST> Francis etc. will not do it. Its an easy W next year but not an attention grabber.

There will be multiple JUCO & FBS transfers coming in 2015 to get "bigger" and I am sure a QB will be in the mix. They are scouring JUCO's and FBS potential transfers literally today! Chuck P got Stony Brook ramped up this very way. They will be in playoff contention from now on (they were this year). No step back this year. For the most part they will no longer lose blue chip FCS recruits to other schools. The depth charts will be stocked come spring ball.

If the offense plays like it did against Delaware and Villanova I think we win going away. SBU struggled with Rhody for 3 QTRS before pulling away. No one is going to confuse SBU's offense with Villanova. All we have to do is tackle better on D and throw to our stud receivers on Offense and I think we will win.

This will be a better game for us than we had against Richmond as they don't throw nearly as much which gives us a fighting chance. There is no pressure on us this weekend and its all on them (one loss by them to us would hurt them badly) and we should play that way. From gadget plays to fake FG's to sustained drives. If there is bad weather this will help with turnovers and hopefully slow down their attack. They aren't the Denver Broncos so this game can be won. If we get any kind of momentum swings we need to capitalize. ALWAYS Go for it on 4th down inside their 45!! Every time!! Take a page out of Fordies book and hit them with a flea flicker. This has to be no holds barred effort. Win or lose I am proud of them. They have been great this year. With that being said we should be able to reach 7 or 8 wins this season.

Can someone shed light on what a Red Shirt Sr./Jr./So. means? Our team is loaded with them. For example Jake Meek is a Red Shirt Sr, does that mean he has another year if he chooses?

Their QB Strauss is off the charts accurate. They are going to sling it all over the place.

He said he was down to New Hampshire or Albany as his choices. Great to see us winning some of those. That's because for the first time in our football program's history we can offer a full ride and our facilities are actually better than an opponents (for now). New Hampshire I understand is upgrading at some point.

That's the point, we can hang with JMU. If we knock off JMU that would get everyone's attention. No Columbia is not good and we need that W going into JMU. We cant be looking past Columbia is all I am saying. That's why I did not like seeing us ranked and people start getting excited. Just keep in mind how bad CCSU and Rhode Island are turning out to be this season. If we keep winning the rest will take care of itself.

Danefan is right. We are not a legit top 25 team. Don't lose sight of the fact that Holy Cross, CCSU and Rhode Island are awful. We defeat Columbia and follow up with a win against JMU then we will be a legit top 25 team.

Do you see it hurting us? The players get big heads and look past Columbia!! This game against Columbia is a MUST WIN!!! With a full CAA slate ahead we cant afford to be 3-1. There are really two teams we will struggle with and that is New Hampshire and Richmond. I watched their game this weekend and both teams are HUGE!!!! They have great skill players (New Hampshire's QB went down and could be gone for the year)and Richmond's QB is beyond FANTASTIC!

Is Albany better than advertised or was CCSU a 6th ranked NEC team that shocked Towson? I saw some of the game and really wasn't impressed at all with CCSU. I thought they would be far better. I think we are a better team this year as well. Our D is very good. I crushed our QB last week so I need to be fair here and say our QB had a good first half but needs to stay consistent throughout. The OOC schedule is not a tough schedule so we need to finish the sweep of Rhode Island and Columbia. Other than Villanova and New Hampshire I think every other CAA game is winnable. 6 wins could be a reality if they complete the 4 OOC sweep.

Just to set the record straight with Albany vs Holy Cross. UA's QB stunk up the joint. If he plays better, the game is not that close. No offense to Holy Cross but people keep saying UA's "back was to the wall" the entire game and UA was "dominated for 58 minutes", get real. The mighty Crusaders scored 13 points in the first half and were shut out in the second half. Their kicker missed makeable FG's so that's on them! HC QB is an outstanding QB for sure. Albany's D has great speed but are prone to the long ball as they have always been. Smallish on the DL. On Offense they struggle throwing the deep ball and seemed slow. Osbourne in space is tough to defend as is Parker the TE tough to defend. Parker had 7 catches and a TD and Osbourne had a respectable 85 yards. I wouldn't throw dirt on the Great Danes just yet. CCSU beat a declining Towson team from 2013 and I believe CCSU is better week in and week out than Towson. CCSU's QB will not be as good as HC and they will be more balanced. I expect a great game. As far as CAA play, it looks way less daunting than last year. No longer worry about Stony Brook, Delaware both very winnable games in CAA play. To lose to CCSU two years in a row would be a disgrace.

Did the Maryland Offensive Lineman have to sit out a year before playing FCS??? The Left Tackle Malloy (?) is very light @ 240. Hell we were DIII and I weighed 255, Jake was 285, Sawchuck 260 etc. With a 6'5" frame lets hope he is outstanding and puts on 50lbs. I do like the fact that all the OL are over 6'3. They are going in the right direction height wise. Like to see all of them 6'4-6'6 and everyone 290+

Including a 4-0 start they should manage 2 CAA wins and also beat Colgate. CAA wins-Rhode Island and SBU. SBU has lost a lot. And I don't know why this is underlined and too busy/lazy to find out why. They should blow out CCSU and Columbia.

When you are 1-11 with NEC talent and probably would not have won the NEC (see loses to CCSU & Duquesne) then an immediate upgrade is mandatory if you are going to compete in the CAA. If we have kids in the wings that redshirted in 2013 that have CAA ability then great. Kids that had CAA ability played(Senn, Ngachie etc). If Gattusso is bringing in Frosh with CAA talent they probably are an upgrade and should be given the chance to play immediatly. If this was year 2 or 3 you and now have players in house you can red shirt. You cant tell me the kid who started 2 years at Maryland(unless he has to sit for NCAA rules) is not going to start day 1 I agree with you about Campion and Senn but last years OL was small compared to CAA defenses and struggled.

As Coach Gattusso's video stated his goal was to GET BIGGER! And that's just what he has done on both sides of the ball. Senn, Ngachie, Omar Osbourne and a handful of others are probably the only kids from 2013 that will start on this years team IMHO. I imagine there will be about 6 kids from 2013 that will start The kid from UMaryland and his brother along an Mr. 6-7 295 lbs along with Senn #77 are immediate starters on the OL. I don't know what they have on the bench or RS but many starters from last year will probably end up being a reserve.

Part of the reason is we are getting these kinds of players is that the athletes see the commitment to football. Couple that with a coach with FBS credentials, a new stadium that is expandable it all makes sense. The other part of the equation is that the majority of these kids who are budding superstars at Albany and most other FCS schools are run of the mill players at the FBS level. It is doubtful we will steal a kid from Florida State or Michigan although we could get the occasional transfer...(see the OL from Boston College who transferred to UA in 2008). I could see many FBS kids from UCONN, UMASS, Buffalo, and Syracuse making their way to UA Either way, who cares as long as they are coming in. I would expect several more FBS transfer types in the coming years due to Gattuso's FBS connections.
