Why doesn't UAlbany make Hockey a varsity sport like football and basketball. I know it means building an ice hockey arena, but maybe the Pepsi Arena could pick up the team. Certainly they'd draw more people then the River Rats. I just look at teams like UNH, Vermont, BU, Maine all being AEC teams and all having pretty successful nationally ranked hockey teams. I also look at UAlbany's current hockey club and see how successful they are. I know that with the Master Plan and the emphasis on the football program, that cash is probably tight, but it would still be nice to have a team so I don't have to go to RPI to watch a college hockey game. Although with RPI and Union so close, some nice rivalries could develop.
