Worst 3 game winning streak...ever.
Â
Totally agree with Click about Ahmad Clark. He battled the whole game long and was really impressive with his toughness. He got upended by a Maine player and one end and landed on his back (which was already ailing.) He bangs the free throws and then a minute later takes a charge where he got leveled.
Maine isn't talented but they played hard the whole game. We were more talented but played hard for stretches.Â
Hopefully that's the only time we see Cam Healy go 1-9. If he hits even a couple of those shots he normally does and that game would have been fairly comfortable.
It'll be interesting to see if we change our defensive plan again Prijovic. He was eating our lunch.
We survived and I'll take ugly wins.

Watching Vermont @ UMBC. I thought Isiah Powell (formerly Moll) was redshirting but now suddenly he's playing?

There's a basketball game today. An actual home basketball game at SEFCU Arena!

If Stony Brook beats New Hampshire on Saturday it sets up a clash of the undefeated next week, Hartford (2-0) at SBU. I don't know who's going to win the AE but Stony Brook just make conference play a lot more interesting (an fun.)Â
Hopefully we can continue to improve, get healthy, and join the fun.

Right now both Brook and Vermont beat us 9 times out of 10. They are both more athletic and just better basketball teams.Â
We would need to play a complete, mistake free game to beat them. Something we have not done all year.Â
Maybe...but SBU's roster is pretty similar to last year and we were OK against them then.
Their offense is more varied this year. Last year, the plan seemed to be to stand around and hope Yeboah did something. Vermont's offense has looked like that the last couple of games. Hope Smith or Lamb makes a play.

Has gone final Stony Brook wins 81 - 77....Vermont fell apart at the end... Three point festival by both teams.
That was fun to watch. I was hoping for overtime .
Vermont got every good bounce and whistle you could hope for in the last minute or five.Â

Stony Brook knocks off Vermont in Burlington. Tough, impressive win up there.
Also, Hartford was left for dead before the season but is now 2-0 at the top of the standings.

It'll be interested to see where Mike Smith ends up next year. He had a medical redshirt and the Ivy League doesn't allow fifth-year seniors so he'll be a grad transfer somewhere.
The Ivy seems to lose a lot of talent every year with that rule.Â

I like Hutch too. Funny to look at his stat line tonight - 38 minutes and no rebounds. People were killing Rizzuto a few games ago for going without a rebound.
Speaking of Rizzuto, he had a nice night with 10 points.
As much as I complain about Ahmad's turnovers, he does play his butt off and grabs a lot of rebounds for a guard. The reduced minutes for he and Healy are helping them both.
Two road wins in a row. Finally, after a month, we actually get a home game.

No Hansen today?

According to Michael Kelly, we might see Lulka against Bing.
Liked this quote from Jojo Anderson:
QuoteAt the end of the day, if we’re winning, that’s all that matters. I want these guys to experience the [NCAA] tournament, [and] I want to experience the tournament with this group.

Toughest part of this was picking the PG spot. Really wanted to put Mike Black in that spot since he was a four year guy.
Essentially took 80% of the starting lineup from the 2014-15 team which was one of the best teams we ever had. Funny to look back on that year because we were 5-7 in OOCÂ before winning the next 15 out of 16 games.
My picks:
PG - Evan Singletary
SG - Peter Hooley
SF- Ray Sanders
PF - Sam Rowley
C - John Puk
Walk on - Nick Fruscio

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.
I can't believe I missed Festivus this year. I've disappointed myself greatly.

Columbia has a dynamic 5'11PG Mike Smith, 22pts, 5apg, very efficient. Gonna be a handful to stop. May be the best PG we'll see all year. He is to prone with 16to in the last 4 games.Â
I remember Mr. Smith. You don't forget a guy with a crazy name like that.
He's had 20 plus in the past two games against us.Â
One positive sign for Jojo Anderson. Mike Smith actually had the same injury earlier in his career and look at him now. He made our BPF scout in this thread.
Playing without an ACL isn't common but it's not super unusual. There have been guys in the NBA and NFL who have played without them. My ACL was gone for 15 years before a doctor told me what I was missing.

We've had some frustrating losses this year but Yale wasn't one of them. They've ripped off 7 wins in a row and handled Clemson today. Next week's game again Carolina should be good.

Yet Hank was getting minutes in crunch time? That’s another thing I didn’t really understandÂ
I thought they were switching for offense-defense at that point but I could be wrong.

I thought it was a little surprising that Kendall was in the game down the stretch and not French. I do think that's a little telling.Â
French going 2-6 from the line and Lauderdale going 2-2 from the line might have been part of the reason. Missed free throws will keep you out of the mix at crunch time.
-
I thought French did what you want your role players to do - play with energy.
Hansen was more of the guy I hoped he'd be. Rebound and block shots.
Hopefully this week we can get everyone healthy and practice together.Â

54% free throw shooting in a two point loss. Ugh.

That was tough.Â
-
Some odd combinations of guys out there. Maybe not odd, but guys who haven't played together very much.
I like Hansen in the paint and playing like a big instead of hanging out on the perimeter.
Guessing Lulka is a no-go today?Â
-
Found myself thinking "they should put French back in."

French and Anderson are starting? It's a world gone mad.
-
Looking for any relief at the point, whether it's Rian Carter or Anderson. They don't have to score 15 PPG, just run the offense and give Ahmad a chance to rest. Also, avoid Healy from playing the point. Maybe a chance to move Clark off the ball also.

Game #17: 1/11/20 - 3:00PM vs Maine

I'm totally fine with that. Maybe make it nine or ten years.
I'd been thinking when Lulka came back and was healthy that he'd go back into the starting lineup. After seeing Hutch play over the last couple of weeks, I'm not so sure about that.
BTW - classy move by Coach Barron of Maine to contribute to Coaches Cure CF yesterday.Â
