Mary & Bill beat Elon in 5(!!) overtimes
That game sounds like it was a delight. Mary and Bill used three different kickers and were 1-7 on field goal attempts.

Refs missed a lot of easy calls in the first half, but that doesn't even make a dent in the results.
They were really physical with our receivers and got away with it. Good play on their part.
Live by turnovers and die by them and today they were fatal.
Maine was top 10 preseason but haven't looked like it until now.

We all have our concerns going in. Turnovers are mine since we were so bad in that department last year. We have the weapons, we need to hang on to the ball and get them shots.

Same because it was so accurate.
Three Man Weave seems to believe it will be different this year since they have Clark on their first team. If he plays like a first teamer, we're going to have an awfully fun year.

This is what happens when we have a bye week and don't have officials to yell at.

With the wind forecast of 25 mph with 50-knot gusts, maybe the Maine players will get air- or car-sick traveling to Albany tomorrow
I don't think it will bother them. That's a nice day in Orono.

There was a time when the forum was harmonious?

From the Three Man Weave Preview:
QuoteClark will look to improve on suspect shooting and shot selection. His efficiency is key for Albany’s conference championship aspirations.
That sentence jumped off the screen.

Just a programming note. On Nov. 5th the Patriot League Network will be showing Lehigh against Monmouth. A chance to see two OOC opponents.

Gazette story on Ahmad Clark not putting so much pressure on himself this year - https://dailygazette.com/article/2019/10/25/ualbany-basketball-s-clark-set-for-senior-season
Michael Kelly thinks Rizzuto, Healy and Lulka are sure bets to start.

Richmond knocks off #19 Delaware and is now 3-1 in conference.

I thought it was fun. These are always a little bit hokey but I'm glad I went.
I'll add, Coach Mullen beat Coach Brown in the free throw competition. Hopefully CB doesn't have to hear about that for too long.
Watching Cam Healy shoot in the 3 point competition was worth going to the event. I think we know he's a good shooter from games and by percentage but to watching him drain shot after shot you appreciate how good he is. I think he hit 7 or 8 straight at one point. Needless to say, he won.
I wish they would have found a way to get Fruscio into one of the competitions.
I'm not sure there's anyone who has as much fun on the basketball court as Alexi Schecter.
There seems to be a lot of excitement that Jojo Anderson can play this year.

Niagara was going to have a new coach when we faced them in December since this was Patrick Beilein's first year there. Now, Bellen resigned two weeks before the season starts - https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/niagara-coach-patrick-beilein-stepping-down-former-duke-player-greg-paulus-to-act-as-interim/
I know Bob is going to wrap this into an insult about the MAAC somehow, I just don't know how.

I had been concerned the bye week was coming at the wrong time because we were getting things going. With all the injuries, it looks like the bye week is coming at the PERFECT time.
It'll be nice to sit back and watch for a week without experiencing heart palpatations. Some good matchups in the CAA this week:
Stony Brook @ Villanova
Richmond @ Delaware
Towson @ JMU
Meanwhile, we'll have a meaningful football game in November. It's been a while.

It appears Hutcheson may slide into this group as well giving us 9. Fingers crossed on JoJo.
So rotation would be
PG - Clark/Jojo
SG - Healy/Rizzuto/Hutcheson
SF - Rizzuto/DeSousa/Hutcheson
PF - Hansen/Lauderdale/DeSousa
C - Lulka/Hansen/Lauderdale
If JoJo is ruled out for the year...then I think you'll see Healy drop down to point with increased minutes at the 2 for Rizzuto and increased minutes for DeSousa at the 3.
I'd have to think JoJo would come back slowly if he's able to play this year. He hasn't practiced and still will be coming off some kind of surgery.
Shafer is in a similar boat. I think he's be sidelined for a while so he'll have to make an impression but he has time.

Another Story from Kelly about the potential playing group - https://dailygazette.com/article/2019/10/17/rotation-taking-shape-for-ualbany-men-s-basketball
Probably not a surprise:
Clark
Healy
Rizzuto
Lauderdale
Lulka
de Sousa
Hansen

We might be better but it's going to be a tough conference and we're going to have to earn it.
I tend to think Hartford is going to be better than their picked.
UML is always better than picked.
Stony Brook is a big question mark with a new coach and without Yeboah. If Yeboah stayed I'm guessing they would have been #2. They weren't a work of art on offense last year but were big and physical and defended. If Latimer makes a big leap then they'll be in good shape.

Longtime Albany assistant Ryan McCarthy just had the interim tag removed as head coach at Central Connecticut
He's earned it. They are kicking seawolf this year. 5-1 and they should really be 6-0 with an FBS win. They had a lead with seconds left over Eastern Michigan and had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown.

Women were picked 3rd in the AE coaches poll although we did get 1 first place vote. Frames picked to the all conference team.

James Allen mentioned in this morning's TU that we've been talking to Albany Academy's Marcus Jackson. His older brother, Andre, committed to UConn a few weeks ago.

Undercuffler - 380 yards and 2 TD. Flacco - 187 and 2 TDs. Flacco had more passing attempts.
This offense is looking more like the one Joe Davis had at Fordham.
Great win to bring into Homecoming weekend next week.

Story in the TU today. Sounds like Hansen will be starting with Lulka, Rizzuto, Healy and TBD. Mentioned that Hank doesn't appear to be part of the regular playing group.
