Yeah, I mean if you told me this time last year this would go down like this, I'd have to ask your family to commit you.

The track record would never have predicted it (heck, the preseason polls had them 11th.... in their conference. )

Like many have said, it's house money.  But honestly,  this team is very talented.... and now they have depth that they never had.   Did anyone even realize that WR Roy Alexander had been out most of the year until coming back against Richmond? How about LB Brian Abraham coming back against Monmouth and getting three sacks?

Idaho didn't look great against the Salukis but the SIU defense also hasn't allowed a touchdown in something like 11 quarters and was one of the best defenses in FCS.

1- Keep at them with the pass rush... and now there are even talented players in the secondary, which hasn't been the strongest of areas for GG teams of the past.

2- Throw to any of the stable of WRs... that depth is unprecedented.

3- Keep the ball the hell away from kick returner Jermaine Jackson.

4- Key on Hayden Hatton when Idaho needs a big play.  Their coach admitted that he went to him almost exclusively to pull off the comeback against SIU.

All told, I think the UAlbany team continues to improve and I think Idaho can be in trouble. I will be watching every minute of it hoping the results stay there... it's been a long time since there has been something to get this excited about with football.

This is just a subjective ranking after each round of those left....

    No, I get it.

It was tongue in cheek.  The team was pick 11th in its league and is now seeded in the playoffs, in the final 8 teams remaining,  with a decent chance at being one of the last 4 teams standing.

    Honestly, it's crazy.

NCAA.com ranking remaining 8 teams. Albany 3rd behind SDS and Montana. For what it's worth (not much) Idaho 6th. Imagine if we were actually tested all season like Idaho was. Again, for whatever it's worth, have to still step on the field and prove it. There are no easy games going forward. Everyone is elite here.

That's awesome to see but my math is fuzzy AF.

How does 11th in the CAA rank you 3rd in the entire country?

Been watching the replay now for a qtr. Not sure where these announcers are from; but certainly sound like Richmond homies??

    I just loaded it up.

My complaint/observation is that the scoreboard audio is set waaaaay too high.  At times at the game it was deafening.

Now on the reply it either drowns out the announcers when they are talking or sound like a third announcer in the booth when they aren't.

Anyone notice that it was Whitesell on the board on the last time out? They toughed it out. Great defense for 20 sec +.

I pay attention to it whenever it is on the screen.  Who is doing the talking.  Who has the board.  How often Whitesell is standing during play.

It's an odd dynamic.  I still think Killings is a good recruiter but I do not think he is much of a technical coach.

Killings should hope Neely gets healthy quick and the team learns how to win because having a guy with close to 200 D1 wins so close by while he is struggling to win can lead to some good drama.

  6. With classes:

1st Team Defense: Juncaj (Sr.), Simon (Sr.), Kelly (Sr.), Hall (Jr.), AND Walker, Jr. (Sr.)

2nd Team Offense: Poffenbarger (So.), Easton (Sr.), Hicks (Gr.), Hutchinson (OL) (Sr.)

2nd Team Defense: Ori Jean-Charles (Gr.), Pastula (Sr.)

3rd Team Offense: Marotta (OL) (Sr.), Opalko (Jr.)

    Honorable Mentions: Renninger (Gr.)

That's a lot of experience.  Better go on a run starting 12/2 and get the most of it.

  7. CAA awards:

Dylan Kelly 2023 CAA Defensive POY

    Gattuso COY

    Woodell ROY

2nd Team Offense: Poffenbarger, Easton, Hicks, Hutchinson (OL)

2nd Team Defense: Ori Jean-Charles, Pastula

3rd Team Offense: Marotta (OL), Opalko

    Honorable Mentions: Renninger

    Quite the impressive haul.
