Yes, some of us still bring up Joe Cremo and David Nichols, and you should note that I attributed their contributions in my comments.  The reason for noting Cremo and Nichols is easy because that is when the transfer portal took a chunk out of UAlbany "where the sun does not shine".

On the other hand you have one Jonathan Beagle. Excited to get him, excited to have him, looking forward to four great years and becoming the best big man to ever play here. We heaped praise as far as I can recall. A guy has gotta do what a guy has gotta do, but it apparently has bought us zero loyalty in return. He's looking to bolt after one year.

And why are some of us still surprised?  Beagle name is added to a growing list of UAlbany players, some who contributed more such as Joe Cremo and David Nichols who up and left for "bigger" and/or "better" programs. I am of the opinion, many of us wonder why Beagle chose UAlbany in the first place. I think we now know, play hard, play tough and win several weekly rookie awards, a better place will come your way.

We are all feeling that kick-in-the knee experience right now with Beagle, this has happened before, and it is going to happen again.

  3. The forecast is updated as of Friday morning for: Saturday

Rain before 2pm, then a slight chance of showers after 3pm. High near 68. Southwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  4. The Transfer Portal has become for most D1 men and women players, the empowerment tool of choice.  If a student-athlete has a post season discussion with their coach concerning the season past and the student-athlete's prospects for the future which does not chive with that student-athlete's perception of themselves, you can count heavily on the student-athlete giving consideration to the Transfer Portal.  Furthermore, many student-athletes are asking themselves, "Can I do better than what I am doing now?"  The Transfer Portal has weakened the sense of team, which once surrounded many programs.

Jimbo, Saw my first basketball game winter 1968. Thought DIII was BS; only went to another game or so that winter. Somehow, got hooked did not miss a game for 12 years. While some carried anti-war posters I carried a sign Start a Football program.

So while I agree with your post 99.9%, I also agree with 99 maybe some positivity from this blog would be HELPFUL?? As you say, a recruit doing his diligence has no problem seeing ALL the problems. I doubt they look at this blog anyhow, but if so, they don't need ALL our bitching to recognize an athletic program in the pits.

"Our incessant bitching" seems to have fallen on deaf ears anyhow. Don't get me wrong, when a program hits the pits like UA has, you fire the athletic director NO DOUBT. Maybe for our own peace of mind, some positivity and HOPE wouldn't"t hurt.

I am of the opinion that everyone that posts here would rather post in a positive manner; however, other than the SEFCU Arena renovation project there has been no other good news.  The postings here are just a reflection of the reality of UAlbany sports.

That being said our coaches are ones on the front line and our coaches need to possess the skill set to close the deal with potential athletes.  When your head coach in the America East you need have some finesse because you not associated with money, highly visible conference or even a successful NIL program.

Maybe DK will start recruiting...teams recruiting kids left and right...crickets from this program. A program that needs all the help they can get.

Seems like 2022 all over again, virtually nothing coming out on MBB Instagram except Marcus Jackson talking about his brother on the UCONN Huskies.

One would think some control chatter via social media could help in setting a tone and letting the fan base know an effort is being made to improve the situation.  I am afraid Killings has been instructed to lay low or could there be "another shoe to drop" moment.

    OK Ketner now gone--sort off.

Signed onto football team as a tight-end; Gattuso immediately moved him to defensive end.

Would this be an overstatement of Ketner's thoughts ... "love the school, if I want to find success in athletes here, I will have a better chance with the football team at this point".  If so, it speaks to how difficult the MBB situation is.

Interesting point. Not sure many have been thinking this or not. But I have wondered, if Scott's commitments to the Native American teams, hosting PLL games and now being host for second round [elite 8 games] ncaa tournament are stretching him too thin?? I know these associations help in recruiting and bring notice and exposure to UA & UA Lacrosse. But they also come with a price & time & commitments.

Many on this blog have commented on how UA did NOT market, promote and expand from their ncaa experiences. I for one AM NOT seeing much benefits, growth, or results from Scott's extra curricular commitments (for lack of a better term)?

Wondering how the MANY feel?? All opinions and thoughts appreciated.

The PLL and NCAA are unlikely to be large distractions however; our past success have long been forgotten by current recruits.  We have had few "surprises" in talent for the past five years and one would think that twenty plus years in D One Lacrosse, one would think we would reap much more benefit from UAlbany LAX Alumni, considering their coach is still here.

We've lost to UVM the last eight times, UMBC rising, Bryant looks solid and now I am seeing ranked in some polls. I love my Danes, but this is a pretty epic collapse of a program, and whether it is Benson or whomever, someone needs to stop living in the past and figure out what has gone wrong. I am tired of listening to Wyland's show on Monday and hearing nothing but coach speak and softball questions.

Sadly, whatever journalistic credentials Roger ever had and for that matter, in my opinion, his TV Station, have long left the building.  Many of us have been left wondering is Scott just riding this latest contract extension towards his retirement and/or is his one other lacrosse commitment just enough of a distraction from his UAlbany position?

  11. With this team being a more of a "Dane Wreck", the fact that UAlbany is hosting one of two quarterfinal matches had become lost in the "fog of the season".  A reminder was sent out last of today's deadline for season ticketholders.

  12. If you remember, I stated the importance of this past Saturday's match-up was to the season.  With that said, the need to re-group and play for a win is essential to avoid relying on others to determine if we make the America East Conference Tournament.  UMBC's record is 6-2 against somewhat soft opponents.
