  1. From D96

Just wanted to say, we should layoff 43Hike52.

43hike52, I just wish you would post more often - we need as many poster on the football side as we do on the basketball side. Even if you disagree with a knucklehead like me, so what!

That's what the board is for.

In most instances people who post here are Dane Fans.

In fact I would hope we continue to attract more and more posters for all sports. The more opinions shared the more information offered the better it is for all UA fans.

  2. Now let's see if Bocanegra can recover. The kid has talent...let's see if he utilizes it.  - D96

Being a starting veteran quarterback is being like being under a microscope.

Good things are expected of good players.

In Bocanegra's situation most of the loyal UA fans expect very good things from him. When he struggles it probably will be mentioned on this board.

In basketball for instances during Jamar Wilson's first two seasons he was turnover prone and it was noted often on this board.

He survived it pretty well to become the AE POY. Lets hope Bocanegra has the same success.

  3. Quackman - I honestly respect your opinion.

I just think your AD comes off sounding like a baffoon....

Asked if he would have released Mensah to speak with Duquesne, D'Argenio said, "I'm not really sure. I can't answer that."

I also think your beat writer should have alot more stuff that is of a positive nature to write about Siena, then Kojo and he even include a picture of Kojo with it.

Why not write a peice about Haddix or the freshman class and include a picture.

By the way I see Iorizzo also wrote a piece today on UA Football which wasn't very good or inspiring either.

  4. In order to write something Siena related in the Fall ( a tough task) the TU and Siena beat writer choose to keep the KOJO story alive with an article including a photo of Kojo. Due to the lack of new info this 1/4 page article with photo could have been condensed to a transaction type blurb of a few words.

Instead of writing about this years Saints....... the return of Haddix, the recent play of T. Fisher overseas or the Saints incoming class all Pete Iorizzo could do is get some more intelligent quotes from D'Argenio.....

    From today's TU....

Asked if he would have released Mensah to speak with Duquesne, D'Argenio said, "I'm not really sure. I can't answer that."

Come on Mr. D'Argenio give us an honest answer ("I'm not really sure") if you suspected them of tampering I doubt you would release Kojo to Duquense. I wonder how the Siena faithful feel about their AD's honesty or straight forwardness.

He (D'Argenio) added that Siena will not pursue tampering charges.

"It's behind us," D'Argenio said. "We're moving on."

I guess it's OK to act tough with Kojo, a college Sophmore, but it's a whole differnt story taking on another DI school - that might cost some bucks and ruffle some feathers in the DI Fraternity. I guess Siena's Administration isn't willing to go that far.

  5. I think it's great that Tay Fisher is playing on the same team as some of our guys. I think that by knowing each other a little better it actually makes the rivalry more fun for the players.

It's also great that Mike Knight and Carl Ross are getting a taste of playing with some DI talent and getting to know a couple of their teammates better.

  6. Money Games UCONN and UTAH. Coach Brown usually has two "money games" a season.

    Saturday 11/11 Bucknell (H) - Top 40 team -RPI 42

    Friday 11/17 Delaware (H) - CAA

    Tuesday 11/21 Sacred Heart (A)

    Saturday 11/25 Brown (H)

Sunday 11/26 UConn (A) - great recruiting class plus return of AJ Price - RPI 3

Saturday 12/2 Siena (A) - always tough at the PEPSI

Wednesday 12/6 VCU (H) - could actually be better then last year - RPI 81

    Saturday 12/16 St. Bon (H) - A10

    Friday 12/22 Cornell (A)

Thursday 12/28 Utah (A) - we won't get many calls in Utah

    Saturday 12/30 UVSC (A) - " " " "

If we get some solid play out of the 5 spot we'll be OK

  7. reeder - great post and I 'll try to clarify a few items.

    1. Jamar going to France is an investment in his future he couldn't have gone with the other guys to Belgium there is a limit (2) to the number of team members that can play on the same team. The new recruits don't count towards that number therefore Ross and Knight can go too. The freshman I believe are taking more course work then JCs Knight and Ross.

    2. Iati probably chose not to go or he would of had to find another group.

    3. Covington is improving nicely from everything I've heard, also remember these trips cost $$$$$.

    4. Coach's site seems informative and gives us all another perspective of what's going on. Our official site is limited to what info can be deceminated. I. too, would like to see it updated more often but there is a limit to what a few people can do and there is only so much money to go around.

    6. The NCAA's impact on recruiting has been awesome. Ambrose is supposedly a "Big Time Athlete" and will be in school this Fall. Little seems to be ready to sign during the early period (Nov.???), I think he has a strong bond with Jimmy Covington. James is an interesting scenario I have no clue what's going on with him but he is supposed to be another "silly athlete".

    7. President Hall will be greatly missed he was truly an inspiring breath of fresh air for UA. Replacing him will be all but impossible.

    8. I'm with you about the Siena Board and I too believe they will sorely miss the penetrating skills of Kojo and his physicallity. I remeber when he was recruited many of the site described him as a High Major Athlete which was right on the money. He was a tough physical defender who rebounded like crazy for a guard. Their recruiting class is very good but filling the void of their 2 most athletic players(Jordan & Kojo) will be tough.

    9. November 11th is going to be an awesome day for Athletics at UA.

    10. Knotts and Jordan already graduated and Levi was finishing his final course in summer school.

    12. This could be the year that the FB team puts it all together. Let's just hope we have some resemblance of a solid "Kicking Game"!!!!!!

What's really great about UA is that we are building a truly solid overall "Athletic Program"

  8. bob87

Bob I am continually amazed at your spiteful views and feelings for our neighbors in Loudonville

I would expect Siena to be much better then .500 this season

....with Kenny H.(a lock for 1st Team All MAAC), D. Ryan, T. Fisher and Beers returning

....the addition of a healthy Haddix(1st Team All MAAC for sure)

....plus the best recruiting class in the MAAC highlighted by the outstanding E. Ubiles (a lock for "ROY" and an All MAAC candidate).

I wonder what role is expected of the 6'10" Carr from Wings Academy this season. There has been little mention of him and his awesome potential on the Siena site as of late.

What I do find interesting is the fact that the Siena faithful continually malign our efforts last season. What I find most interesting is that in 2004 UA had an RPI of 310 and in 2006 it had improved to 119.

Siena had an RPI of 125 (aided by playing in a much stronger conference last year) for 2006.

In fact in the last 6 seasons the best our well established neighbor has done RPI wise is 117 which makes our 2006 RPI of 119 look pretty decent for an upstart program.

Our main goal should be trying to improve our RPI and get back to the NCAAs.

  9. In the world of sports we often talk about "Impact Players".

For UA and I mean the overall university President Hall was a major "Impact Player"!!!!!

He continually worked on the whole package, UA could offer. In my opinion his efforts to upgrade athletics at UA had a larger goal and thet was to improve the entire university setting.

He understood the whole package and was probably the easiest College President to approach that I have ever met.

He was just an excellent person - my condolences to all who were close to him.

  10. No doubt the school is making a big strides.

The Administration should be applauded for all their efforts.

President Hall gets it. It's not that sports are more important then education but sports can be an important conduit to get the UA name out there to the public and to increase Regional and National exposure.

There is nothing better than free advertising.

As more students are attracted to UA and start researching it they will realize the great academic opportunities at UA and applications should increase which is good for the entire college.

The exposure leads to name recognition which is important when students are picking their colleges.

UA is improving in all areas of DI Sports, but it is the UA academic community that will benefit most as more recognition come to UA.
