TU Story

Today's Gazette has their pre-season outlook of the UAlbany and Siena women and tomorrow they will have the same for the men. For those of you who peruse the Siena board, there is a string entitled "From hoopscribe on Siena coverage" in which the Gazette's Siena beat reporter responds to an e mail from SienaTony regarding their coverage of local college teams. I don't know if copying it here violates some sort of message board protocol. If you only buy the Gazette one day a week, I would recommend Tuesday when they generally have the majority of a full page devoted to UAlbany basketball.

The women's story today is similar to Coach Patterson's comments at the luncheon; that of her 5 post players, only 2 are healthy for tomorrow; that they'll play more zone and pack it in to attempt to limit Siena's shots. For those who weren't at the luncheon, Coach Patterson read from an essay (which sounded like it came from the business advice guy Harvey Mackey who has a column in the Sunday TU) about loving your competition because they make you work harder and be stronger and how without competion, you would get lazy, etc. Coach closed her comments with "I love Siena" Not words you'll ever hear from me under any circumstance; but she uttered them in an amusing way.
