How do you become a graduate assistant for a team. Is it a program, or do you have to be a ex-player etc...im just wondering because im trying to get to grade school, and im gonna be a senior next year, and the idea of maybe going and trying to talk to a coach to see if i can get involved has crossed my mind. I want to be a teacher when i graduate, and the idea of coaching possibly middle school or high school athletic team for after school has always crossed my mind.

Anyone have an idea how you go about with that etc?

Usually to be a graduate assistant coach, you would have to have played something because it costs the team quite a lot of money and they're not going to invest in someone who can't help them when they could just as easily find someone who can help them coaching-wise.

Grad assistantships pay for a good number of credits, have benefits and pay a small salary.

If you're going to graduate school and need to get it paid for, and you're not already a player, I would work the academic angle. You can get your grad school paid for through a teaching assistantship more easily than you can through coaching.
