Newsday columnist Tom Rocks picks Albany in the first round againt Virginia. Rock-Newsday

"ALBANY at No. 4 VIRGINIA, Saturday, 8 p.m.

It's hard to tell who got screwed more in this matchup. Virginia gets the No. 4 seed but has to play a very tough opponent. And Albany, in for the third straight year and coming off a season where it beat UMass and lost by a goal to Syracuse, should have gotten a lesser foe. One of my colleagues predicted an easy win for the Wahoos, by seven goals, but I'm not so sure. Virginia has looked pretty vulnerable lately (though it hasn't played in two weeks) and Albany has a potent offense led by Luke Daquino and Merrick Thompson as well as a stud senior in goal in Kevin Rae. If Rae plays like he did last week against Stony Brook, which normally has a pretty strong offense itself, this could be close. In fact, it might even be a shocker.

THE TAKE: Albany 11, Virginia 10."
