Latest recruiting tidbit!!!!!!!!

It also appears that Albany has landed 6'11 Brett Gifford from Rock Bridge (H.S.) MO and this is interesting for several reasons. First, Gifford joins 6'8 Mike Yocum from Merion Station (Episcopal Academy) PA to give Danes two excellent replacements inside for 7'1 Sr Kirsten Zoellner and 6'6 Sr Levi Levine, both of whom will graduate after the current season is over. Second, there are people out there who think Gifford would be recruited at the high major level, if he'd waited until spring to sign. Gifford didn't play in any major AAU tournaments during the spring or summer, but still was attracting interest from schools like Missouri, Wisconsin, Southeast Missouri State, Southwest Missouri State, Missouri-Kansas City, Illinois State, Ball State, Utah State, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In other words, we're talking about an America East Rookie-of-the-Year and Future Player-of-the-League candidate in the league, as well as as somebody who belongs in the 101-300 range nationally.

Don't fall into being like Tony.

We don't have to hype our recruits lets just let others who are neutral do it for us and lets hope these players are as good or better than described when they play next season then we can open our mouths.

Evidently Albany has some good qualities that help attract solid recruits - of course we'll never have all the advantages of Siena.

Several of you posters have hinted at an important question: How has Brown been able to recruit such good players?

UAlbany certainly did not light up the Division I skies with great performances before he took over. We still have not even achieved a .500 season in Division I.

Brown has consistently been able to recruit players with solid skills, players of high moral quality, and players who can also perform in the classroom.

What do we have to offer players of such high caliber? How does Brown do it?
