Redshirt Hughes

Recommended Posts

Don't know where he is - guess is he withdrew for the semester and will return next semester, but redshirt him.

1. The team will probably not be any better with him.

2. Probably won't get many minutes as he will probably be out of shape and will have to "become a part of the team"

3. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining. That will take a little pressure off in recruiting as it is so difficult to get big men at this level.

4. He obviously had serious family issues - so he should take the time to get into school and ensure that he graduates.

I don't know if redshirting Hughes is an option. I believe I read somewhere that he sat out his first year at Brown Mackey, played his second and graduated which made him eligible to play right away at the DI level with 3 years eligibility.

I am not totally sure but I believe that's how things played out in JC.
