Austin, Texas -- University at Albany's men's and women's 1,600 sprint medley relays both set school records at the 2007 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday, April 7 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The men's team of Pat Weider, Junior Burnett, Joe Greene and Gered Burns posted an eighth-place finish in a school record time of 3:21.47, breaking the 2005 record of 3:23.55.

The women's squad of Jenn Gurrant, Ashley Vives, Adanna Andrews and Jessica Ortman hit the tape in 4:03.06, good for an 11th-place finish. The time toppled the previous school record of 4:07.09 set in 1998."

 

 

*Great job to mens' and womens' T&F with their record-breaking times in the 4 X 400m; there are some automobiles that I see here in Catskill that can't go that fast!!! :wacko:

Outstanding times.

 

Just a point of clarification the sprint medley is 400x200x200x800 (as compared to 4x400). And I'm not sure if that is the order, it's been a while.

The men's team of Pat Weider (21.4), Junior Burnett (21.6), Joe Greene (46.8) and Gered Burns 1:51.1)posted an eighth-place finish in a school record time of 3:21.47, breaking the 2005 record of 3:23.55.

The women's squad of Jenn Gurrant (27.2), Ashley Vives (24.7), Adanna Andrews(57.80) and Jessica Ortman (2:12.90) hit the tape in 4:03.06, good for an 11th-place finish. The time toppled the previous school record of 4:07.09 set in 1998. Marc Pallozzi finished 6th in the javelin with a toss of 211' 3".

 

 

 

UALBANY'S LUKE SCHOEN WINS POLE VAULT COMPETITION AT DUKE ASICS INVITATIONAL

Durham, N.C. -- UAlbany's Luke Schoen won the pole vault with a leap of 15-feet, 7-inches at the Duke Asics Invitational on Saturday, April 7 at Wallace Wade Stadium. Schoen cleared the bar at the same height as Gardner Webb's Jeremy Longshore, but placed first with less missed attempts during the competition. David Parker (Niskayuna) was fourth with a vault of 15-feet, 1-inch.

Andrew Overbaugh took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.79. He also ran the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 49.61 seconds for a fifth-place showing.

Freddie Wills, Valete Graham and Renauld Buck were also top-10 finishers for the UAlbany. Wills had a leap of 22-feet, 10-inches in the long jump to finish seventh, while Graham took tenth in that event with a mark of 22-feet, 1.5-inches. Buck was tenth in the shot put with a toss of 46-feet, 11.75-inches.

 

In addition, Robbie Freeman finished 11th in the 3,000-meter run with a school-record time of 8:29.76. Freeman eclipsed Adam Rice's standard of 8:38.95 that was established at the 2002 University of North Carolina Track & Field Classic. Brenna Militello tied for sixth in the women's high jump by making a height of 5-feet, 5-inches.

 

 

 

 

UALBANY'S MIKE McCADNEY TIES SCHOOL TRIPLE JUMP RECORD AT TEXAS RELAYS

 

Austin, Texas - University at Albany's Mike McCadney finished third in the triple jump by tying a 16-year-old school record on Friday, April 6 at the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. McCadney went 50-feet, 6-inches to equal a mark established by Peter Rugel in 1991.

Texas' Joseph Davis won the competition with a leap of 52-0.50, while South Plains College's Darrell Roddick was second in 50-8. McCadney's performance qualified him for both the NCAA East Regional in Gainesville, Fla. and the IC4A championships in May. During the indoor season, McCadney won the America East Conference title and placed second at the IC4A meet.

The 4x800 relay squad of John Moore, Joe Belokopitsky, Ricardo Estremera and Gered Burns finished in a school record time of 7:36.03. Burns ran his leg in 1:48.8 to help his team place seventh.

UALBANY TRACK'S 4X800 RELAY TEAM SETS SCHOOL MARK AT TEXAS RELAYS

 

Austin, Texas -- University at Albany men's 4x800 relay team set a school standard finishing seventh at the 2007 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday, April 5 at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Joe Greene finished tenth in preliminary round of 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA-regional qualifying mark. The women's 4x800-meter relay finished seventh in the finals on the second day of competition.

The 4x800 relay squad of John Moore, Joe Belokopitsky, Ricardo Estremera and Gered Burns clocked in a school record time of 7:36.03 as they finished seventh. Burns posted a split of 1:48.8.

Greene, a sophomore, crossed the line in 51.55 seconds and qualified for IC4A Championships and NCAA East Regionals. He was just nine-tenths of a second shy of making Friday's finals.

In the women's competition, the 4x800-meter relay qualified for the ECAC meet in May with their performance. The relay team of Adanna Andrews, Anisha Andrews, Helene Abiola and Jessica Ortman hit the tape in 8:58.50. Ortman became the first UAlbany athlete to win a Texas Relays' title on Wednesday by placing first in the 800-meter run.

 

 

 

 

UALBANY'S JESSICA ORTMAN FINISHES FIRST IN 800-METER RUN AT TEXAS RELAYS

 

Austin, Texas -- University at Albany's Jessica Ortman won 800-meter run, while Ricardo Estremera finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in day-one action at the 2007 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Wednesday, April 4 at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The four-day competition continues Thursday.

Ortman captured the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.88. She is now the first-ever UAlbany track and field athlete to win an event at Texas Relays.

Estremera turned in the third-place showing with a time of 9:29.03. Jonathan Moore crossed the finish line in 1:56.11 to place 17th in the 800-meter run.

Track and field events get underway tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
