Iati mentioned in USA Today

Recommended Posts

Article in USA today about Mid Majors vying for the tournament had a section on freshman. Mentioned that while Albany at 3-14 will probably not make the tournament, Iati is averaging over 40 minutes per game in conference game having played 324 of 325 possible minutes.

You probably won't see Albany's Jon Iati in the NCAA tournament, since his team is 3-14 and down to seven players because of injuries and other problems. But you can see lots of him now. The 5-9, 162-pound freshman is averaging 39.7 minutes a game (40.8 in America East play, in which he has had one overtime and logged 324 of a possible 325 minutes). - USA Today

It's amazing that Iati can play so many minutes and be as effective as he has been. I think we have to understand that first of all it's tough playing DI ball as a true freshman and even tougher at 5'9".

With the minutes he's logging it starts to become evident why he has some uncalled for turnovers and he struggles shooting some times. I think next year playing much less minutes he will be wat more productive.

Last season Jamar played 37.2 min/g and Levi played 34 min/g. Iati's currently at 39.7 min/g and 40.5 min/g in conference play. By next year Iati should be a Junior experience wise.
