Frivolous Fashion Question

Now in the off season, there's a little room for less serious, yet still related conversation.

 

There was a time not long ago, and certainly many, if not most, on the board remember, when basketball players wore shorts that were very short. They were complimented by socks that were very long, almost to the knee. If you can't shut your eyes and picture our own guys so dressed, you can see them all the time on ESPN Classics.

 

Today, shorts are long and baggy, sometimes exceedingly so. Today's style makes the short shorts of yesterday look absolutely ridiculous.

 

What if in 1975 a player had come onto the floor in the long baggy pants of today, it would have been bizarre, beyond strange. I think though, we briefly went through a transition time - some stayed with very short as the long and baggy gained popularity.

 

Fashions change. My question is therefore - at what point in time will fashion revert back to short shorts on the court, and from where will that reincarnation originate? One avant gard guy? An entire team? Or do you believe it will never happen - that today's look, or some variation of it, the long/baggy shorts, are here to stay. History tells us otherwise.

 

I predict that in our lifetime we will watch highlights from this decade and in the same way we do now about the past, chuckle at today's costumes of court.

I don't know....the shorts of the Stockton days looked not only embarrassing but painful. I don't see us going back!

Maybe we should revert back to the game gear of days past, and perhaps also wear warm-up t-shirts depicting pictures of our legislative representatives responsible for the downstate diversion of funds resulting in the loss of our stadium funding. And continue to wear tighter and less clothing until we get our funding for the stadium.
