A couple of points:

1. The Lady Danes have signed a 6'4" recruit, Kirsten Peterson from Owego. I imagine that Owego is a fairly small school and by New York State HS classifications, plays in a fairly low classification league. However, she will not be expected to log many minutes next year and will be able to learn by practicing against Hutcheson daily. When Hutcheson came here, she was needed to play immediately. As we have seen by the improvement of many Lady Dane players, having the time to mature is valuable.

2. Before anyone gets too excited about a high school point guard scoring 30 points, remember that Tanya James averaged 25 points/game in High School, and struggles to score at allat this level.

3. I have noticed in the past several home games that Sarah Sweetland gets roughly a three minute rest in the middle of each half and that Tanya James seems to have secured the back up point guard spot. James' turnovers (which seemed to be a problem earlier in the season) seem to have been reduced by Coach Patterson making sure that whenever she is inserted, the other players on the floor are either 4 starters or 3 starters and Schumacher. I think this is a good strategy to build James' confidence, considering that next season, she will probably compete with one of the freshman for the point guard position on a team where every other starter will be an upper-classman (classperson?)

They seem to be having trouble with their site. It was working this morning.

Peterson does come from a small school but she made her mark playing AAU ball over the summer against better competition. Hopefully she works out. There are not many Hutchesons out there.

As far as James goes, yes, she did score 25 pts a game but that was in Canada. That's only about 16 pts a game American.

Long story on Mikus in yesterday's paper. Hard to figure out exactly what postion they have her playing as she had 16 rebounds in her most recent game but is also the school's leader in assists. Sounds like she could compete with James for the PG spot next year.
