Probably not, since a ) they've already played on the field a couple of years; b ) it's not really finished yet, with restrooms to be added along with field hockey seating; and c ) students are still on winter break.

Maybe if they have a spring fling or whatever they called the spring homecoming, later when it's warmer.

In contrast to his (and the general) impression, football has a higher per-game attendance than basketball almost every year.

Gazette lax preseason story

Football has led every year in the Division I era, except 2002. This year would have been the year for Basketball to take the lead as not having a home game until October and a monsoon homecoming hurt football, but it doesn't appear that it is going to happen. Basketball is averaging 2627 to date. Football averaged 3165.

BBall:

2008 to date: 2627

2007: 3175

2006: 2541

2005: 1945

2004: 1193

2003: 1168

2002: 1649

2001: 1148

2000: 1290

Football:

2008: 3165

2007: 3637

2006: 3115

2005: 2628

2004: 2396

2003: 2532

2002: 1549

2001: 2344

2000: 2014

2002 was a fluke year as we won the NEC and ECAC bowl over #21 Duquesne. Pretty good attendance in good weather, but there was a rain game against St. Francis (634), and two horrendously cold and windy games the last two weeks (Monmouth 757) and the ECAC game against Duquesne (898). Box score for ECAC game has 30 degrees and 35 mph winds. The two coldest moments of my life I think.
