From reading the Gazette article, it would appear the "dreaded" rivalry question must have been asked. Here are three quotes:

 

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin "It's a great rivalry, and it's great for the community. There's not a bigger rivalry in sports in our area."

 

Coach Brown "I don't know if it's a rivalry yet because we haven't been that competative yet, but there's a great atmosphere here at the Pepsi Arena. Our players are looking forward to playing in front of 12,000 screaming fans."

 

Coach Lanier "I disagree with the people who say this isn't a rivalry yet. I think it's a rivalry because of the competativeness of the games. It's a great atmosphere, and the game is compelling."
