Well, there is UMass and UConn. When they started UAlbany it was supposed to be an "informal nickname" (would be useful in a headline so you know it's not Albany High, the Patroons, the River Rats etc.) but I think it's way overused

Yes but those are state labels not city labels. I'm fine with it being informal, but it should stay off the field and off the scorers box on TV, announcers lips, etc. lol. I personally hate it.

just saying, it is Stony Brook University and Binghamton University... do not see the UAlbany label going any place as long as "UA-UKNOW" continues to live on

Right, but no one says UStony Brook or U Binghamton...they just say Stony Brook or Binghamton when talking about them in a sports setting (live on a broadcast, in media, etc.).

UA-UKNOW is another thing that grinds my gears lol. I'm not even 40 yet and this had to have been the idea of some 20yr old with their stupid slang these days like "rizz", etc. UKNOW what? That we haven't been relevant in a decade? Such a stupid chant.

Anyway...first world problems I guess lol. It just makes me feel like we're a D2 school lol.

  2. That was peak UA sports for me. Other than last years FB aberration (jury is still out to see if the program can replicate success regularly), it's been downhill ever since. To the point where I hardly care anymore. Used to plan my whole life around UA sporting events.

And now with NIL and the ruination that it has done to college sports? It's a sad state of affairs.

Projecting who is going to stay and who will come has become impossible.

The days of a student-athlete committing to UAlbany in their junior year or in the autumn of their senior year are over for practical purposes.

Yep, this is why I stopped updating. I'll update the list before the season when the dust settles.

Continued deterioration of amateur athletics. Now they can get a cut of the money the BIG schools are making off of them? In addition to NIL? These kids are going to be making millions.

Their educations should no longer be free. In fact, they should not even bother going to school and these teams should just disassociate with the term 'college' or 'university' in general.

This is a disgrace. I've done a 180. I am completely against NIL and college kids making money. Wish they didn't get a cent.

If this continues, I'm probably going to give up on college sports and just follow the pro leagues. I can't deal with 80% of the basketball team being replaced every year.

I guess you do not know who Barbara Eden was or watched a certain show on NBC from 1965 to 1970.

That is nearly 2 decades before my time hah!

The lot on Grant & Phillips off Madison Ave has always been free and empty. Been a while, so do not know if still the case.

Can also get into this lot by empire plaza ramp. Go all the way around the plaza U-ramp; do not enter any of the Plaza ramps. There are 2 or 3 gates on each side of the U. Just after the last entrance is a ramp into the GrantPhillips Garage. Also an entrance on Phillips off Madison.
Not sure the name of this garage. And if anyone knows the name and/or if still free. PLEASE feel free to correct this post

Grand St Lot. I don't remember if it is free last time I was there. I used to park at that garage for photographic vehicle/motorcycle shots of the Empire State Plaza.

  7. It's free agency is what this is. This is no longer about kids, their educations and being student athletes. This is a true semi-pro thing now and lower tier programs are farm teams for bigger programs.

I was all for kids making $600 to be part of EA College Football 25 but now I think they shouldn't get a dime and NIL has ruined college sports.

Having a '4 year' kid is going to be the exception now, not the rule.
