  1. From simple a fan perspective, taking out cost factors in the CAA, the idea of joining a new conference should bring more intrigue to the casual fan in the Capital District. Seeing the same teams every year in the America East conference can get a bit stale as someone commented on the AE Board. The CAA is something shiny and new and even if it does all blow up within the near future it makes even more sense to reap the benefits short term and figure it out later. The more I think of it good for Stony Crook and even more mind numbing that Albany already is an associate member in FB and can’t even be extended an invite.

Also, the Newsday is reporting Iona and Albany are in the hunt for the CAA.  It's true, we are on a list with about 15 other names...but we are not in the hunt from what I've been told...unless the league goes to 16 teams.    Either that, or Benson does a great job of lobbying right now...and I'd support that lobbying if I were all UA fans.

I’ve heard a bunch on this board in the past he’s always had one foot out the door. Wouldn’t this be the perfect time to do whatever lobbying he can do to get the invite to the CAA box helping him towards his next gig?

America East Conference: Can the conference survive the Stony Brook and Hartford departure?

I cannot image the eight remaining Athletic Directors are not concern about the future of their conference and their ability to market the conference and their teams.

Stony Brook has made a huge leap forward in my opinion for the long term.  For the Long Island sports fan....if SBU does become a full member of the CAA....this will solidify the SBU - Hofstra rivalry to the maximum level...

Since the announcement of Hartford departure to DIII, I spoken to people whether or not any efforts had been undertaken to bring Bryant into the fold .... perhaps the America East should include Merrimack and Central Conn State

Nobody on Long Island gives a damn about either schools sports teams. If someone here followed college basketball locally it’s St. John’s.

Major sports, at least for us,  is football, basketball, and lacrosse.

We are already in the caa for football. Do we really want to be in a 16 team mid major for basketball? 1/16 chance to go to the tournament?

I'm not sure about caa lacrosse but we were number 1 in the country in the AE. So we know it can be done.

I’d rather align with better programs and competition, but seems to be moot anyway as Albany will be stuck where they are. Playing better teams in conference prepares you more for when you do get into the tournament. The CAA has been down in recent years, but they’ve always been more around 12-14 seed in the tournament vs the America East at perennial 15-16

We will not be unless they go to 16.  We are then one of many schools vying for a spot

If Albany didn’t want to move to the CAA in 2013 why is it they’d try to get in now? Has the budget changed at all? Is it because they realize they’ll be left in the dust? Like Click said D3 looks more likely than the CAA now lol

SBU to the CAA is not yet confirmed, but it looks like it will happen (makes no sense to me, but it is what it is).

I like the AE with 9 teams and a 16 game basketball schedule - gave more OOC game possibilities. 8 teams isn't enough. The league will need to add another, and my bet would be CCSU.

If SBU does in fact move to the CAA and UA stays in the AE - I'd love to see an annual SUNY Basketball Challenge. 4 Team event with UA, Bing, SBU, and Buffalo. Rotate Host Cities. Double Header on Friday night for the first round, then double header on a Sunday with a championship and and a consolation game. Make sure that UA and Bing do not square off against each other in round 1 to minimize the chances of playing a league foe in a non-league game. Give out the SUNY Cup each year!

Hartford is leaving which leaves 8. I know everyone likes to crap on the MAAC and we don’t really fit the other schools profiles, but with Monmouth potentially leaving would I’d love to see Albany head there.

I get it. KNOW both sports are different and like I said Knee injuries are complicated and degree of damage can be exponential. I was NOT suggesting anything or making any recommendation. I certainly do not have the expertise to do that. I was only curious, if anyone knows considering it is most likely Perry's last semester to play, if a stop cap procedure, brace, etc had been discussed. I've seen this being done in basketball before, albeit usually not too successfully. Just curious/wondering that is all!

Lol the way things get taken out of context are on another level nowadays. Wasn’t even criticizing you in anyway at all.

I know there are ALL degree of knee injurries. A few years back, Connor Fields (lacrosse star) played most of a full season with a very serious meniscus issue. Had various treatments to keep him going. Near year end he had some partial surgery and even though he was only a shell of himself he continued to contribute. Connor eventually had the full surgery and after a year of recuperating plays pro-lacrosse.

Anyone know if there is any thoughts/hopes for doing something similar with Perry, especially since it definitely appears there is no way he he can redshirt and play next year???

Basketball and lacrosse are two different animals. Fields stayed on one half of the field pretty much sitting around the net

UA scored the last 13 points of the game. Down 44-47 with about four minutes. Held Lowell scoreless to win by 10. Hate to be negative, a win is a win; but I was there and also watched entire replay, and this was simply an awful game BY BOTH teams. Could be a blip or just a bad night, but based on what I saw last night, could be the two worse teams in the AmEast. UA shots <32% overall <27% from three {& 2 of the makes were by unlikely characters}, and UMass shot not much better. UMass blocks 14 shots but turns the ball over almost 20 times (12/13 in the first half alone) and gives up almost as many offensive rebounds as shots blocked.

OH and attendance was terrible as someone asked. Last game UA recorded the amount as 1040 something, which seemed high to me. Last night had to be even less.

It’s still America East basketball. Never been pretty or smooth. Teams with pauses and breaks will be ugly. Cerutti is a big factor to this years team. Missing him the previous two  games was huge.

NOBODY IS SAYING THE ABOVE. NOBODY!!!!!

The above post is what's wrong with the US today. People take away from a post,  speech. Ect, what they want to hear. If they don't agree with it then it's ridiculous.  No it's a different point of view. This is a great example of why we are so divided today.

What I am saying is that I believe Killings can take advantage of the new rules and it can really work to our advantage. KILLINGS CAN BE OUR ADVANTAGE. And I expect him to be.   Back before the new year it could take longer to get better. That is no longer the case. I'm sorry you don't agree. I understand your point but I don't agree, but I don't think it's ridiculous. It's just different.

The response was to you telling me I don’t know the new transfer rule and the earlier comment regarding next year being no excuses. We can have different opinions that’s how a message board works. We don’t have to agree.

In the end we want the same thing W’s, but some are ready to put the new coaching staff after 14 games on the hot seat.
