  1. Thompson was the 2nd highest FCS player in the top 100 at LB and chose UA over UNC. I'm really excited at this class. It's pretty amazing that at least 4 of these recruits were the highest or in top 2-3 at their position going to FCS. Now imagine what Gattuso et al could do coming off a playoff season. Remember how excited we were at getting Ngachie? Now we have 4 of them, plus Mike the Elder.

  2. Offense was working? Maybe you had a different feed. Vt had far more uncontested lay ups. Open 3. Etc. Should Ua have hit some more shots? Maybe but they had very few open looks. You don't score 83 combined points against your rival and get to claim poor shooting. Especially since you're not a big outside shooting team to begin with. You push the ball inside. Then penetrate and rotate off the ball. None if that happened.

This was a bad game plan executed badly. I'm shocked there were no comments about WBs overall coaching record compared to his contemporaries, that I posted yesterday.

  3. Yup. Not bad enough for the obvious coaching change not good enough for any genuine enthusiasm or growth.

Of the current 147 d1 coaches at their schools for at least 10 years only the coach of Dartmouth and Savannah St have a worse record and only 11 others are under 500 overall

  4. This is a mediocre basketball program. They'll win here and there but no continual growth. The empty seats at the end of the game say it all. The city has no reason to get behind this program in a game in game out basis.

I like the recruiting of two big local talents to turn that tide, but with those coaching them, I don't expect a tidal wave of local enthusiasm

    Winners fill seats.

  5. Why are they still running slow half court sets and not pushing the ball? They are down double digits and acting like its a tie game. They scored less than forty last time against Vermont. Headed that way again. Way to switch up your game plan.

  6. The announcers commented with surprise that there was no change in offensive strategy. They were surprised but if you've watched this team over the years, adaptation to game plan adversity is not the coaching staffs strong suit, so we fans shouldn't be surprised

To paraphrase something made famous during the Jamar years "you're not doing a heckuva job, Brownie".
