  1. Their board is pretty active. I enjoyed reading the thread. I would love to see that many people get involved in conversations here. By the looks of it, they may have a large contingent of fans coming to SEFCU tonight. Wish I could make it, but I can never do Wednesday night due to another commitment. Will be watching from my phone.

  2. Was it me, or was UNLV ridiculously hot from outside? I couldn't believe how open we left them on some shots, and how they somehow seemed to make the bad shots when we did get a hand in the face. Combine that with UA missing almost every shot (yet making all the stupid shots they took after the whistle).

When it was within 5 in the second half, I thought we had a chance to pull off the upset - but cold shooting ended it.

  3. At one point the foul difference deep in the second half was 9 to 4...9 on UA. That was with UA taking everything to the hole...

Unfortunately, I couldn't be at the game because of a family commitment, but I did watch it on my phone.

Is it me, or does the offense seem more ragged and less controlled this year? I almost felt like I was watching street ball at one point. I know we have a lot of talent on the floor that can cut and slash, but I felt like there were lots of forced shots and silly mistakes. Maybe this will calm down as the season progresses. Everyone likes watching scoring, but I have grown to love the grind.

  4. Mens poll release 11/24

No major updates, and not worth taking the time to count out the other's receiving votes. Of interest:

    • Albany still on listed
    • Quinnipiac dropped and only received 5 points
    • Siena jumped up to receive 13 points
    • Both Stonybrook and Vermont no longer received any points

Womens poll released tonight. I wonder what direction we will see the Lady Danes move after the loss to WKU?

  5. Lets start with NJIT this Wednesday...

This poll after one game is a joke...give it two weeks.

I only post as a relevent news item. It's a weekly poll and is only the second of the season. It is silly that there are still over 60 teams mentioned. It will change over the next few polls. It will probably get down to 35-40 before the 12/15 poll is released. We will be 6-3 when that poll comes out, coming off wins at Siena and Bucknell and will crack the top 20...

  6. We have hear a lot about how much Stire has impressed, about Baker's abilities, seen Peter's size, and have gotten very excited about Singletary and Sanders.

Any updates on any of the other newbies? The ones that Brown doesn't look like he will play this year? Redshirting? Any updates?

    • Max Twyman - 6-5 SF - He was a ranked prospect with a score of 59 according to ESPN
    • Mike Wells - 5-8 PG - Also ranked by ESPN with a score of 57
    • Geremy McKay - 6-7 PF
  7. Preseason Rankings were posted today...

    Teams of Local Interest:

    17. Iona (311) - MAAC

    26. Siena (71) - MAAC

    28. Manhattan (51) - MAAC

    46. (tie) Stonybrook (13) - America East

    55. (tie) Vermont (7) - America East

    65. Albany (2) - America East

Also, the women's preseason rankings are out as well:

    6. Albany (549) - America East

  8. For the longest time, I just wanted the game and didn't care how it was played. UA needs to grow a bigger set and demand that at the minimum it is considered a road game for both teams in the next contract - thus counts in neither season ticket package - or it needs to be a contract with an even number of years and it is a home game for each team every other year - giving UA season ticket holders the best seats in UA years. Keep it at TU for the fans.

The $aints played at VT last year. Silly that the Catamounts have a better deal with $iena than we do...

  9. Winning does cure all, very true - but back to back tournament appearances with a win sounds like winning to me.

Mark told me on that site that there was no interest in UA so they don't report. Siena fans mock the attendance. Siena releases a video highlight reel of every game that the Times Useless posts on the blog. They seem to be a much more media friendly school.

To me its the old chicken or egg scenario. Get the press to report and push it and the fans and interest will follow.

Thanks for the answers btw. I have been reading the site for years, but finally registered and just got validated.

  10. Has anyone with interaction with Will Brown or the Athletic department spoken with them about media exposure and availability. It seems that Siena gets most of the coverage in the local media and their games draw more fans even though they have a smaller student and alumni base and haven't been nearly as successful over the last few years? I think a lot of this is the amount of access Siena gives to press vs. what UA does.

Many of us are frothing at the mouth for more coverage. The TU college blog guys says it is because no one cares and Siena articles get more clicks (I stopped clicking on anything that has to do with Siena and click any Albany story from several devices hoping it might help lol)

Any thoughts? It appears that we will have a formidable team this year from what I have read, but there has been very little pre-season coverage to get the fans excited.
