  1. While clearly some feel that physical contact (not boxing out or moving a kid into position on the court) by a coach on a player is ok, it is no longer acceptable.  You can think it should or shouldn't be, but it isn't.  That's also a fact.  One side has presented their case in court and publicly (fact).  The other side continues to stonewall (fact).  Does that make them guilty in a court of law?  No.  Is it suspicious behavior to many of us?  Absolutely.  If I'm accused of this (no matter what my attorney tells me) I'm out there giving my side of the story.  I'm getting assistant coaches to tell my story too.  I'm leaking.  I'm screaming.  Yet, nothing.  Silence.  Silence from the top to the bottom.  Still not guilty in a court of law but I've seen/heard enough.  OJ wasn't found guilty in a court of law but he was guilty.

Add to it that we have 1 win in a pretty terrible conference and my scales of justice have been fully tilted.

  2. Once again a major dry spell offensively.    This time when it really mattered.  6 points in the last 8:29 of basketball.  Missed shots.  Turnovers.  Shot clock.  For a stretch I thought they were playing like they were up by 15.  How many times were we up against the shot clock late in the game?

And whatever that last play was it was awful.

Partially Disagree. Reddish is having a pretty good season as well. I like the core of Reddish/Beagle/Neely/Jackson for next season assuming they all stay.

Little and Amica deserve a shot as well. Not sure if either can be anything after all these injuries, but both profile well. Drumgoole is listed as a Sr, but I think he has a year left if he wants it. The rest of the team seems like bench/role players at the moment.

Hutch/Patel/Davis are all definitely gone due to graduation/eligibility. There are 3 recruits already signed for next season.

That leaves: Edmead, Ketner, Kellogg, and Drumgoole to make a decision on. There is an open scholarship from when Shafer left, so if that goes to Jackson, there are those 4 potential spots to find some talent that wants to help win with a brand new SEFCU arena. Hopefully Drumgoole stays, leaving space for 3 transfers.

    My mindset:

Beagle / Jackson / Reddish / Neely / Drumgoole seems like a strong starting lineup.

Bench: Little / Amica / Adnan / Margoupis / Robinson

Questions / Open to Transfer and recruit over: Ketner / Kellogg / Edmead

I'll show loyalty to Amica and Little as neither have had a real chance to prove themselves and both took a chance on UA.

I like Neely as much as the next guy but you're starting lineup next year is the same as this year plus Neely and you're going w/ "seems like a strong starting lineup"?  That lineup (minus Neely) has produced one of the worst teams in the country.  Add to it a bench that has played how many minutes of D1 BB this year?  The light at the end of the tunnel is a train.  Sorry but that lineup is only marginally better than this years lineup which is plain awful.  Nobody in that lineup can shoot from more than 12 feet from the basket w/ any consistency (unless you count consistently poor).  We better hit the lottery w/ a transfer or a stud recruit or were in for the bottom third of the conference again next year.

  4. Random thoughts:

I’m still shocked at how bad we are at shooting a basketball.  An important skill in the game of basketball.

Beagle outscored the other 4 starters combined.  17-15.

The other 4 starters played 121 minutes and (again) scored 15 points.

These same 4 made 6 baskets and committed 6 TO’s.

I thought we were supposed to play up tempo?

Not that Patel is the answer but as guys are going 1-17 and others offer up ZERO on the offensive end (Jackson) why was he bolted to the bench.

I worry about teams realizing that it’s easy to get into Beagles head.

Kellog and Ketner a combined 1 minute of play?

Don't think that's all the defense's fault..it's still a low scoring game. Scoring 4 points as a team in the first 12 minutes of the second half causes that.

Edit 4 points in the last 5:15 of the first half AND the first 11:24 of the second half - COMBINED. That's 4 points in almost 17 minutes of play. From up 2 to down 24 in that stretch.

Agree.  If you watch this and think defense was the problem?

YES. A couple million reasons to FIRE Benson. And I’ve said more than once; if depositions support the claims absolutely fire DK and ALL. Agree Benson least effective AD ever; but find it a stretch that he is stupid enough to think he could manage a coverup.
I’d fire Benson for jaywalking across SEFCU/Broadview parking lot. My post was just trying to point out many on this blog & in the press are trying to hang the whole UA out to dry; without ANY significant proof of wrong doing.

Some are saying the coaching exodus is 1 proof & 2 exempts them from repercussions. Everyone welcome to their opinions but IMHO those who say this are 100% wrong on both 1 & 2. No proof whatsoever that anyone left because of Fiz issue; and if the shi// hits the fan & Fiz accusations of assault & coverup are proven, those who departed “in silence” careers, could absolutely be in jeopardy.

Don’t recall anyone saying it’s “proof” of anything w the coaches leaving.  I’ll say it’s smoke though but not fire.  And didn’t say it “exempts” them but it might be better to exit than stay IF it’s true, IF. Again IF true I’m not sure how staying would be better than leaving and disassociating yourself from the program.

Precisely why i think the University settles prior to depositions.  You pay your insurance deductible and you move on from there. The interesting thing will be to see the nature of the claim against Benson and killings specifically. Will they be covered under the universities professional liability insurance is the key.  If they are, it makes sense to simply just settle immediately on a sum that is somewhat reasonable. At worst the University’s insurance premium goes up in the next cycle. It’s exactly what I would advise the University to do if I was their general counsel.

let’s be honest with ourselves. Luke is not looking for justice. He’s looking for a pay out.

He could be looking for a payout and justice.

Do the right thing. Fire Benson. Fire his staff who don't stand up to him. Fire Gattuso. Fire DK. Apologize to players and fans.

JUST START OVER. This entire program is in SHAMBLES and other than like what, one sport (Field Hockey?), is a shell of it's hayday in the late 2000's or early 2010's.

This is so painful to witness.

Track and Field is still strong.
