Baseball Teams series was postponed cause of snow. Time to play our annual guessing game of when the first game of the season and when the first home game of the season will be played?
Ill bet my money that the Hofstra tournament has problems, and we dont play Holy Cross that first game either. But thi is what we have to deal with being in Albany.

From UA Athletic site:
AMANDA MORIN TOSSES ONE-HIT SHUTOUT IN GREAT DANES’ SEASON OPENER
El Paso, Texas -- UAlbany pitcher Amanda Morin fired a one-hit shutout in her debut, the Great Danes blanked Northern Colorado, 8-0, in the first game of the UTEP Tournament at Helen of Troy Field on Friday, Feb. 25. On the season’s opening day, UAlbany was defeated by Texas-San Antonio, 13-0 in six innings, in the second game.
Morin, a right-hander who transferred from Florida Atlantic, had her no-hit bid broken up in the seventh, when Northern Colorado's Stephani Miller singled to left field to lead off the frame. Morin struck out eight in the contest and retired the first eight Bears she faced. Miller took the loss for Northern Colorado, allowing eight runs, but only two of them earned in going the distance.
The Great Danes broke a scoreless tie with a five-run third inning. With the Great Danes up 2-0, Katrina Dunning smacked a double down the left field line, plating two runs and giving UAlbany a 4-0 lead. Dunning finished 2-for-4 with two RBI in the contest, while shortstop Maegan Larsen went 3-5 with a run scored. UAlbany (1-1) would add three more runs in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Erika Enocksen and a two-RBI double by Amber Maisonet.
Texas-San Antonio (8-7) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings in game two. Jessica Els hit a grand slam to give the Roadrunners a 4-0 lead after the first inning. Mel Torres highlighted a seven-run sixth inning with a three-run home run. Torres went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Aimee Murray 2-4 with three runs scored and driving in two runs.
Ursula Mares pitched a complete game for Texas-San Antonio, striking out 14 and allowing just three hits in picking up the victory for the Roadrunners. Casey Halloran received the loss, allowing six runs, but only one earned. She struck out three in five innings of work.

think about this...0-7 IN GAMES DESCIDED BY 5 POINTS OR LESS
IMAGINE WHAT THE RECORD COULD HAVE BEEN
-
Just for the fun of it, Albany has won the America East SUNY Cup (i made it up) which puts the match-up between the 3 SUNY Schools.
Albany 2-2 (takes first for overall record in AE and total wins)
Stony Brook 2-2
Binghamton 1-3
Just for the fun of it. I seriously would like to see all 4 Major SUNY schools put something together (adding Buffalo) but that will probably never happen.
-
68-63 loss...that hurts. Now lets see what happens with Hartford and Binghamton
-
36-27 SB at the half...uhhhh that hurts.
-
lets remember, Vermont is playing all seniors. Thats the thing we still need in our game. We have te perimeter shooting, and Zo has been great to see inside, but our inside game still needs work.
-
i know a few people who would go. It was something i was going to discuss with Brian once i got back into Albany. We will try our best.
-
your right with that. I want to see us play Hofstra and Buffalo, but if they are scared that they can hurt a type of season that both are having this year, then they may not want to play us.
-
to me, Albany needs to start talking with Buffalo and Hofstra when it comes to local out of Conference games. Maybe throw in UMass as well.
You know they are gonna throw in a game against a Big East school. If they play in the Coaches vs Cancer and UCLA however, i dont think it will be a high rank team like Cuse. Maybe a Seton Hall, Rutgers or even St. John's would be good.
But if you are looking at mid major conferences with local aspirations, Hofstra and Buffalo are it.

Amazing, only two games out 2 weeks ago before the big purple growl, and now they are 3rd to last. Its upsetting to see the tail spin that this team is going in right now.
-
i think he will get looked at by some team for a FA spot. I wonder what Campbells potential is for like a 7th rd pick?
-
daneman give me a break...i was quite upset that im missing this game tomorrow since its the last home game of the year. Its not our fault that we have to go home. We are still trying to grow this thing. Like they said, we are not Duke, and never will be Duke.
we are doing our best with what we got. AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION, ME AND BRIAN ARE TRYING TO PUT MEETINGS TOGETHER AFTER THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMNET OR SOMETHING WITH THE AD, CHUCK V AND COACH BROWN.
-
most of us are all heading home for the long weekend.. I was debating on staying, but i have so much to do while home. Stinks that the last home game was this weekend. Look for very limited, AND I MEAN VERY LIMITED, student attendence this weekend. No classes on Monday and Tuesday and i would say a good amount of the students have left already, or will be leaving by friday night/saturday morning.
-
2,000 maybe pushing it. I can tell you the RACC Rowdies will most likely not be there this weekend. Brian has to go to Rochester, and i have to go home to take care of things...its a long weekend and no classes on Monday and Tuesday...most of the students who attend (us RACC Rowdies) probably wont be around.
-
lets not also forget that the home opener against Long Island was played at St. Rose this year because the RACC was not ready. That hurts this years numbers as well.
-
on the AE Board...does Jeff Plunkett just hate us when it comes to officiating or is it just me?
-
well the thing that hurt attendence at the Siena game this year was that the sched the day when classes were getting out for Thanksgiving break, and everyone wanted to get home from both Siena and Albany. I was dieing to go to the game, but they sched that day, and i needed to get home to catch a flight...thats what killed attendence this year at that game.
-
i tell you what...if we can get UCLA next year, and if its at UCLA im going. I figure the game would be played over the christmas vacation. My dad lives out in Phoenix and i usually visit him. I dont think he would mind traveling about 3 hrs to go see UCLA vs Albany...HAHAHAHA
-
ok...i did it for two reasons:
1) im a overall basketball fan. I think everyone is great, even if there on the team i hate the most. If i was at N.Carolina, i still go over and say goodluck to Coach K, because he is a god. Brennan is Brennan. Yeah we hate him, but hes a big part of AE.
2) ESPN's cameras were there. Maybe i can get on tv
I still hate the guy, but ill still say good luck to him. I went over to Sorrentine and gave him a Dane Ball shirt because i didnt need it. I wanted to chuck it at him actually. But i said to him as he was going in "you kicked our ass, so here"...another spur of the moment deal. So if you see the Dane Ball shirt on TV next week, blame me, I gave it to him.
Im a sap when it comes to TV and college basketball what can i say. IM SORRY IF I OFFENDED OR UPSET ANYONE.
-
hahahahahaha i agree. Nah it wasnt anything big to him. I just went over as he was walking in, i said good luck, and then i began to heckle him when someone mentioned Mike and the Mad dog and he started laughing. The mans helped AE alot, i can say good luck to him.
-
ooo no no i understand that. But im just saying students and fans dont jump when they see St. Francis coming to the RACC for a OOC game you know?
-
Ettkins article was pretty good. I was waiting for a bashing, but it didnt turn out that bad. I still hate the guy, but ehh.
