Men's Soccer pulls off very big win.

Albany upended Duquense at the Dukes Invitational, 1-0 in men's soccer despite being out shot 19-5. Condoul continues his impressive early season play, coming up with 11 saves.

 

The Dukes posted a 13-3-3 record in 2003 and earned a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season title. They were ranked 17th in the country last season at one point, finishing at #25.

 

The Dukes were receiving votes in the latest polls and were picked to finish fifth out of twelve A-Ten squads.

 

If Bingo, UMBC, NU, et al are as good as advertised, the AE MIGHT HAVE ONE OF THE BEST CONFERENCES IN THE COUNTRY if the "lower teams", like UA, keep winning these important OOC games.

Always great to beat the host team at one of these tourneys. They probably invited Albany expecting a tomato can and then got shocked.

 

I'm really not sure why Albany was picked to finish 9th this year. They've been around the middle of the pack in the AE the last two years and returned all their starters from last year.

 

I realize it's only two games but this team could be like baseball was in the spring, given no respect in the pre-season polls and then go out and have a very good year.
