Settle down fella...only the SECOND DI team from UA. We have had plenty before that, including our ELite 8 DIII squad, thank you very much.

Only fair to mention that there was a large and loud partisan crowd in attendance that increased the excitement level. The crowd was predominantly students - great to see! Hope this carries over to the hoop teams. Sat with some local volleyball fanatics who had never witnessed this much excitement around volleyball locally. Earlier in the day, this group had attended the MAAC Volleyball Tournament held at Siena - only a sparce crowd of player's parents in attendance there. Nothing in the TU about this tourney because the Aints were not involved.

There was more UAlbany news at the IC4A cross-country championships yesterday where UA runner Robbie Freeman actually won the race with the second best time in school history. The best time ever was run by 1973 All-American Jim Schrader - his cross-country team finished 2nd in the D-III NCAA Championships that year. As earlier stated, while the Volleyball team's performance yesterday was fantastic, it is not only our second appearance at the Division 1 level in the NCAAs. I believe the track team has performed in the NCAAs a couple of times already.
