from website, shed looks like:

Season opens Feb 25 at UTEP Tournament Feb 25-27. Will play

UTEP, N. Colorado, Texas-San Antonion, N.Mexico St. (Championship game included)

George Mason Tournament March 5-6

doubleheaders against both George Mason and Syracuse

Delaware State Tournament March 18-20. Will play Delaware, Delaware State, Providence and Lehigh (Championship game included also)

Rebel Tournament in Kissimmie, Fla March 22-25. Will play Niagra, Troy, Iona, Siena and Cornell (2x) (Championship game included)

other non conference games include:

Siena doublheader at home May 4

at Army for doubleheader April 20

vs Manhattan for doubleheader April 14

vs Dartmouth for doubleheader April 5

THEY ARE LOADING UP THIS YEAR. THEY ARE GIVING THE NCAA COMMITTEE TO CHOSE THEM FOR AN AT-LARGE SPOT IF THEY CANT PULL OUT A A CONFERENCE TITLE. THEY HAVE A GOOD SHOWING IN THESE NON CONFERENC GAMES, THEY WILL WALK AWAY WITH IT I BELIEVE.

Your enthusiasm is unmatched. But I hope by "loading up" you mean "loading up on easily winnable games to stack their record prior to AE play."

A power-packed schedule it's not.

UTEP 8-46

No. Colorado 6-32

UTSA was 37-17

New Mexico State 14-49

George Mason 28-32

Syracuse 25-29

Delaware State 41-22

Delaware 29-24-1

Providence 34-20-1

Lehigh 40-17-2

Niagara 20-26

Troy State 35-30

Siena 14-33-1

Iona 26-20-1

Cornell 42-12

Army 27-22

Manhattan 16-33

Dartmouth 17-20

TOTALS: 459-484-6 (.487)

Take out the four clearly good teams (Cornell 42-12, Lehigh 40-17-2, UTSA 37-17, Delaware State 41-22) ... and you're left with 299-416-4 (.419)

Not to mention they play DH's against a lot of the poor teams (Siena, Manhattan, Dartmouth) and GM and Cuse had losing records.

... I'm just sayin'.

Ahhh...D2k...ruining another's post...go figure. While our friend 84 is a wee bit off...you are as well.

Any Big East team is a good team. The CAA...pretty solid (Delaware and Mason). Remember, Hofstra nearly made it to the World Series...losing in the final game, finishing 21st in the land. Oh, Delaware lost in the CAA FINALS to Hofstra. George Mason....one of the four teams in the CAA tournament.

Troy State is ranked 4th in the atlantic sun pre-season (both media and coaches), finishing third last year. The winner of the SunBelt was the third ranked team in the Lincoln Regional. Who else was there? MAINE at No. 8 and Lehigh at No. 7.

Syracuse...fifth ranked in the pre-season poll...Providence 7th. Both, from a conference that placed two teams in the tourney last year (ND and Seton Hall).

So, those five squads are traditionally stronger than UA. Add that to the four you mentioned....that is 9 squads that are much better than us. Clearly, stepping it up a bit!

Of course Syracuse isn't "25-29 bad".

If you look at it in terms of a fictitious softball "RPI", the W-L is bad.

You could split it up like this:

THE GOOD (271-130-3)

Cornell 42-12 (x 2)

Lehigh 40-17-2

UTSA 37-17

Delaware State 41-22

Troy State 35-30

Providence 34-20-1

THE GOOD-WITH-A-BAD-RECORD (82-85-1)

Syracuse 25-29

(I'll take 96's word on the following two)

George Mason 28-32

Delaware 29-24-1

THE MIDDLE (80-64-1)

Army 27-22 (x2)

Iona 26-20-1

THE BAD (156-358-3, factoring in multiple games vs. 3 opps.)

Siena 14-33-1 (x3)

Niagara 20-26

UTEP 8-46

No. Colorado 6-32

New Mexico State 14-49

Manhattan 16-33 (x2)

Dartmouth 17-20 (x2)

If you really factored in how many times you played each team, it would be a total of 589-637-8 (.481). The DH's against three bad teams actually lowers what I showed previously overall.

Now, even though you're up in arms, I'm just saying, that's not that impressive a number. The good teams are balanced out by the bad teams, which may be a strategy to help confidence and build some easy W's.

But if you look at "The Good", realistically it could be a struggle to win any of those games, let alone a majority. Count those as 10 games, coming out 5-5 might be tough.

Don't get so offended big guy.
