First the Good-Merrick Thomson was named AE player of the week.

The bad- The pared down Tewaaraton Award list came out and Luke Daquino isn't on it.

Tewaaraton Award Nominees

Thomson, Westervelt, Tripodi Pick Up Weekly Honors

Sophomore Merrick Thomson (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Albany Academy) of Albany and Sophomore Drew Westervelt (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) of UMBC share America East Player of the Week honors. Bo Tripodi (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) of Stony Brook has been named America East Rookie of the Week. Awards were announced Monday (April 25).

Thomson totaled five goals and two assists in a 14-13 loss to No. 7 Syracuse. He tied the game at 10 apiece with 13:00 remaining, plus closed the gap to 14-13 with 1:33 to play. Thomson is first among NCAA Division I leaders in goals per game (3.75) and is second in points with a 5.17 average.

How about Thomson - leads the country in goals and is second in points

Any chance of him becoming an all-american? Don't know much about lacrosse but it would be great to see that.

I doubt whoever selects those thing reacts that well to new stimuli. Can't argue with those numbers though against a pretty decent strength of schedule.

The Danes (or Scoobies) stayed at #13 in the polls this week after the loss to Syracuse. Some comments from the laxpower forum poll:

"Albany: My #12 - Some Dome cooking (in this case, a big no call on what appeared to be a UA goal late in the 4th) spoils the Danes' upset bid. Now they have UMBC coming with the AE top seed at stake. (Apache) — They may have lost to Syracuse, but they displayed a potent offense with two potential AAs. Right now they have to think AE, because even though they have a possible at-large, I'm not sure the powers-to-be could swallow two AE teams in the tourney. (Artful Dodger) — Great O but no D. (Baldo) — #13 Alb 8-4 based on narrow Dome loss. (ColumbiaBlueBlack) — Scoobs battled Cuse to the wire ... have rebounded from early season disappointments ... 8-4. (jhu7276) — #13 - So they lost to a good Syracuse team by one. (John Henry) — Deserved the win against SU. Albany played better lacrosse but could not compensate for the individual exploits of Bucktooth and Crockett. (Ketch) — (14) Oh so close to collecting the biggest scalp in school history. What a terrific effort by the Danes. UMBC comes into town Saturday. (Lax Fidelis) — #13 (8-4) Tough one-goal loss to Syracuse in the dome. Still have a nice wins over UMass and Dartmouth. (PLB) — This is a very talented group of youngsters. (StanDPeterson) — #13 - Unchanged. The loss to Cuse doesn't drop them. (timbucthree) — 13 - Like so many, gave SU a run for their money only to fall short. May get another chance with America East bid. (Viper) — #13 Almost but not quite able to beat Syracuse. (WNY Lax) — Up two spots to #15 after a near miss but solid effort against Syracuse in the Dome. (Wombat)"
