Pitt game stories

Recommended Posts

And the story from today's TU.

Not sure how many of you caught the game last night. I missed part of it with a phone call but thought there were a few bright spots. Levi is being asked to do alot and got it done again leading in points and rebounds. Again not a good 3pt shooting game but as the only established scorer teams are keying on him. Courtney Johnson had another nice night with 6pts, 5 assists and no TO in 23 minutes. Not a bad line against Big East competition, he's really been a nice surprise so far. St. Hillaire had a solid game and sounds like a better shooter than I had imagined he would be. Good too to see Knotts be more aggressive with his shooting and rebounding even if he didn't shoot particularly well.

If you missed the beginning, you didn't miss much, because not for the first time, the broadcast on 980 didn't start until midway thru the first half.

At least Iati only had one turnover, let's hope he starts shooting better when he starts playing in smaller gyms (2-8, including several airballs)

Once Jamar returns we should see improved offensive numbers from Iati. Jamar attracts quite a crowd when he has the ball. Until then the new players (Frosh and transfers) will continue their baptism by fire. It will be nice next year to finally have a number of veteran players so no Freshman will have to play 40 minutes a game.

A friend of mine was at the Pitt game and said that Pitt was very athletic, physical and experienced. Albany played a great first half and didn't look at all in awe of Pitt.

Here's his abbreviated report:

The second half besides having the physical and athletic advantage Pitt shot "lights out".

Martin who picked up 2 early fouls and sat most of the 1st half and then picked up his third early in the second half and never got into sync but did knock down a 3 ball.

"Q" looked very active and shot and hit a couple of 14' "Js" in the face of 6'10" guys.

Knotts did hit some 3s maybe that a sign of things to come.

Johnson seemed right at home, especially for a freshman, in the Big Time atmosphere and played solid.

Wyatt was booed by the Pitt fans for some dirty play and produced very little.

Wilson and Hughes in uniform would be a pleasant site, and add a lot of depth.
