the funding will come. The private donations need to reach $5,000,000 FIRST then the state will come in and add $30,000,000 as well as the City of Albany to the tune of $15,000,000.

Once the private donations are acheived then the City and State will get involved. They are waiting to see if the private donations will be made to see if there is any viability for a new football stadium. Once the stadium is built they will use the excess $ and overhaul the RAAC. SO START SPENDING FOLKS WE CONTROL HOW FAST THIS GETS DONE! SPREAD THE WORD TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A CHECKBOOK. BE SURE TO WRITE DOWN FOR FOOTBALL STADIUM ON THE LINE ON THE CHECK!!!!!

 

 

YOU WANT NEW FACILITIES? THEN WE ALL HAVE TO SPEND AND GET TO 5MILLION....THAT REALLY ISINT ALOT WITH THE AMOUNT OF ALUMNI WE HAVE!!!!!!!. JUST FOR THE RECORD THERE ARE SOME VERY WEALTHY ALUMNI WHO ARE GETTING THE BALL ROLLING AS WE SPEEK.

Ok people...let me give UA some free marketing here.

 

While most of you are UA fans...some are not football centric.

 

As noticed in our unbelievable hoop year, public exposure hasnt even begun to scratch the surface.

 

As goes the success of UA football, so will the rest of our sports programs and overall UA academic community. Why you may ask?

 

Though we will more than likely cap out at the IAA level, it is clear there is $$$ out there to make us a profitable IAA program, most likely in indirect ancillary ways.

 

As noticed, the community WANTS to support UA...but they need to feel it is UA for them...and not them for UA first. When I arrived at UA in 92, town gown relations were, to be blunt...terrible. Now, much has changed.

 

A 15k seat stadium in the middle of campus will give a sense of legitimacy to UA that it has never before been seen. An eventual expansion to 25k (as in the plans) will further that. Look, Buffalo built their program stupidly. However, there is no denying when you walk on that campus....YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE AT A HUGE DI school.

 

UA needs that as well. The stadium will provide a home for the UA teams, local concerts, and the community to use. It will finally make Albany....THE CENTER PIECE OF THE CITY!!!

 

When that happens...you have things like "research triangle" breaking out. There is no reason business wont flock to Albany if all the local schools are making themselves attractive to them. How does a school do this....MONEY.

 

Look...no one gave us a shot in hell versus UCONN...but that game singlehandidly put us on the map.

 

Now...imagine we are a IAA team like NU, Delaware, MASS, etc. We play a game on TV against Nebraska. You think it wont get alumns riled up to give $$$. They will say...wow...we are real.

 

Sure...auto loss...but a 350k pay day per year for one game goes along way to building stuff the school needs.

 

The more powerful our school...the more value both socially and monetarily your degree will hold.

 

Football is a southern sport, no doubt...but big business is starting to prop up in the south, with the opening of the Latin American market. If you are a UA grad...you want someone to say "yeah...that resume is from some school I never heard of in NY...but this one is from FAU...let's bring this one in." Of course not. However, because football is so big in the south, games versus other southern IAA and IA's for money will go a long way in getting our school's name out there...hence putting us past the southerners "YOU GO TO ALBANY STATE, GA" lines.

 

Bottom line.....you want an expanded RACC, you want a pottery building, you want Ice Hockey, better concessions, etc.....

 

THEN SUPPORT FOOTBALL. Scholarship money is there...so spending isnt going to be increased dramatically in that dept. Spending needs to be increased in facility management and upgrades...and we need about:

 

4mm bucks

 

 

I bucked up and donated more money than I truly had to give. If I had enough...I would give more.

 

25 bucks or 10k....doesnt matter...it will COME BACK TO YOU IN THE END...in some ancillary way.

 

And if we are good...how fun would a fall saturday be with 15k people screaming "UA, UA, UA, UA, UAAAAAAA, UA" while in a tight contest versus James Madison.
