Brown/Manhattan

Recommended Posts

Saw Coach Browns name mentioned on the MAAC Board as possible candidate at Manhattan. Wonder if it is true? Manhattan is a great job! Several coaches in recent years have moved to the Big Time from Manhattan. Would it be a lateral move based on the NCAA success this year?

There is no way that happens any time soon. He just inked a nice extension. For him to say how much he wants to be here and then turn around and jet would be difficult to comprehend.

[ agreed!

NO way he is leaving. He has another tournament bound team coming in next year. Why would he leave when he is still improving his resume. He will be here for another 2-3 years minimum. Does anyone know is he has any escape clauses in his deal ? Example is if a certain job opens at a particular college.....is he allowed to leave?

If we're going to be concerned with message board rumors/suggestions, it should be noted that on the laxpower m,essage board, someone posted a thought that Scott Marr would be a good replacement at Dook.

As for escape clauses, i believe Dr. McElroy has stated on many occasions that he would not let a contract stand in the way of a coach leaving for a better job. This type of understanding is a must at our level.

Any coach that wants to get out from under a contract can do so I believe. Most of the time there are very very stiff penalties tied to a coach leaving early. I also think most AD’s don’t want coaches who don’t want to be there, and will try to recoup as much of their investment as possible and move on.

It's general knowledge that at UA's level good young coaches will want to move up and make it to the "TOP".

Good AD's want to do the same and College President's are no different.

I don't imagine Coach Brown is going anywhere soon but if his success continues he will be a "Hot Commodity" and the AD and the President will realize that if an offer comes to double the Coach's salary and move to a higher level the Coach will go and should go . They would also realize that with Coach Brown the AD and the Administration had made a great hire - when they took away the Interim Title a few years ago.

All bosses want to hire people who work hard and want to be the best they can be.

It has nothing to do with a Coach wanting to be at UA. Brown has said numerous times that he wants to be here and I think he was sincere. Does that mean he'll stay here no matter what and pass up great opportunities that come his way for himself and his family, HELL NO!!!!
