Good story on Sherri Mikus and her teamate CeCe Hall in her hometown paper. They were named Co-players of the year and Hall has lived with Mikus and her family for the past two years.

Wonder why UAbany isn't recruiting Hall, if she's that good defensively and can score 18 ppg. She's small at 5-6 or 5-7 or whatever, but I'm sure she'd be an improvement over the two small PGs the Danes have now.

First - It's hard to judge from one article but it appears Mikus was the primary ball handler. Hall is 5'6" or 5'7" and not the primary handler, that seems suspect to me.

 

Second - There must be a reason why only a few DIs are interested in Hall at this late stage.

As I read the story I was thinking the same thing as 2K3. Guess you have to assume if the staff has seen enough of Mikus to sign her they have probably seen Hall as well.

Two guards in the incoming class and I'm pretty sure Patterson said at the luncheon that she has another scholarship to give for next year. Hopefully another big person.

Do we have a scholorship left? We gave 4 for incoming 2003-04 players and have signed 4 for the coming season. Do women have the 5/8 rule? Does the Scipione situation leave us another to give for the coming season?

When the staff was recruiting Mikus, I would imagine they had plenty of time to look at Hall also. Evidently, Hall did not have what Coach Patterson was looking for.

 

I don't believe the Women have a 5/8 rule.

I was surprised when Patterson said it because I didn't think there was a scholarship available. 4 players coming in plus 9 reurning=13 Scholarships. Maybe someone's transferrring?

I didn't think Scipione had an athletic scholarship anyway. Maybe that's how she's bringing in another player as a pseudo walk-on.

The women don't have a 13 scholarship limit imposed by the NCAA as do the men.

 

Albany may impose a limit on the girl's program if they wish but I think the women are limited to 15 by the NCAA.

Dane Pound - I think I read somewhere that Jen Schumacher is a Presidential scholar and is not on an athletic scholarship. Also, I think I remember that Maree Jones may be an EOP student and likewise not technically on an athletic scholarship. To be honest, I'm not really sure about either.
