I'm not looking past this year's NEC schedule but I am interested in the start of CAA football. Is there some place I can see Albany's future schedule? I found a number of sites but they all cater to FBS.

What do we know about 2013, 2014 and 2015? Any FBS teams? Which CAA schools are likely to play in Albany? Is Delaware in that list?

It looks like Stony Brook took our Cincinnati slot in 2014.

I think we all agreed we wouldn't likely see a FBS game before 2015. I'm guessing scheduling negotiations wouldn't happen until the office season so maybe next Spring we could hear of something?

I am not worried about FBS teams. I want to get to get use to a new level of competition first. I am excited to see the program succeed in the CAA. I have been watching the CAA games and there is some teams we need to watch out for such as William and Mary and Deleware.

IMO, I would like to be in the CAA for all sports but that will not likely happen unless the AE merges with the CAA.

In the mean time I will definitely enjoy watching our future games on the NBC Sports Network since the CAA signed a contract with them.

Getting used to playing CAA teams and playing an FBS game are apples and oranges in my opinion. We need the FBS games to be competitive in the CAA. Without money games our disadvantage in the CAA just gets drawn out even longer. I love the move to the new conference and I think Coach Ford will get us up to speed as quickly as he can possibly do but a lot of tha will be dependent on money and there is no better or quicker way for FCS programs to infuse money than being the sacrificial lamb to some national program.

Agreed. We are in no position to turn down $500k.

In a post on the CCSU forum http://www.ccsufans....?p=27670#p27670 Central Connecticut will be the first visitor at our new stadium. This is 'according to Bruce and Marc' (nobody with those names listed in the CCSU Athletic Dept.).

Not the big name most of us were hoping for.the opener. Unless this is left over from our NEC schedule for next year, subject to change with our CAA schedule.

I'm torn if that is the outcome. We need competitive games... I get that. Fans want to see winning games. It's equally true that name recognition also matters. If you want to draw more fans you need brand name colleges not just beating up on lower profile colleges. No disrespect to CCSU because I do like and respect them.

What would be the biggest brand name draw that we could also conceivably beat next year that could kick off our new stadium? Not saying we would beat them just that we could beat them and thus it's a dream opening.

I think Delaware is a brand name team and we better be able to beat them or else it will be a long year. It would never happen of course but Army would be the ideal. A team we could beat during a down year (like SBU did this year) and a huge brand name.

Wish list:

1) Army (Huge brand name and not playing well thus doable... although not going to happen)

2) Delaware (A pretty big name but could be a tough game)

3) Rhode Island (Had a tough year and could be reasonable for us but still some name recognition)

Army will never play at an FCS like Albany. It took a lot of negotiations for them to schedule the 100th anniversary of the 60,000-seat Yale Bowl in 2014. Most FBS will never play at an FCS.

An HBCU would be good (CCSU drew 8,322 for North Carolina Central at a muni stadium in 2008) but I don't know if any besides Grambling have any real 'name brand'.

Any rumors how league scheduling will go? With eleven teams we'll probably play Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Stony Brook, and one of Villanova, Delaware, and Towson every year, and the other teams every other year. That leaves four out of conference games for 2013 and 2014, and three for years after that. If you assume we'll be traveling to an FBS every year, we'll only need one or two home OOC games every year.
